I would back off on the cynicism a little.
Maybe he wants that to be their answer so he can tell them all to wake up or f*** off.
He knows the road the bbc is going down and maybe he needs to sweep clean because there are probably a large minority who arnt as left wing or should I say anti tory, as they 'should' be. This will enable him to get everyone's independent opinion hopefully with no arm up the back tactics. Hes hinted about linekars attitude at the very time hes on the payroll. It might just be the least wasted £1m they have spent recently.
Just saying!

I get that it could be a strategy "give em enough rope" and all that.

You are correct I am cynical about the BBC reforming itself. I think this will only happen when they are looking into the abyss, but then that's just my opinion.

I am serious through the DG really does need to reach out to his paying customers. Any business that is losing hundreds of thousands of customers pa and year after year would be crazy not to understand why.

That abyss is there and the new DG knows this and is circumnavigating it like a ship in a whirlpool.
Watch this space I think as this could be last chance saloon.

What will the DG do? Reading that article she has multiple previous I would be amazed if she wasn't warned about her conduct. She works in HR so should know better.

I don't like knee jerk sack em reactions but she will needs to do some good talking to get out of this. Her credibility is shredded and how can an HR person lecture the corporation staff on behaviour and standards when she herself is under the spotlight.

The best thing she can do for the BBC is to resign.

No, sack her, don't give her the dignity. Think of all the other people who are made to leave their jobs.

Funny how you chose that comment and ignored her swearing and other awful comments. She's not a low grade employee she is a senior manager and should behave like one.

She is broadly a reasonable political reflection of most people in the BBC....with perhaps worst language.

Even if I thought the new DG is serious....and I don't really....He'd have to sack most of his staff to change the culture and he isn't going to do that.

The days of charging everyone including right wingers to pay for people like this should have gone a long long time ago.

Those who support the BBC's output must pay for it....then individuals like this can carry on with my blessing.

Not heard of her, but they are only words.

She would never succeed with the Tories, there she would have to learn how to bully young typists and forcibly eject them from buildings.....

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.
