I wonder if there will be a social experiment - if people could have two rolls of gentle paper or three of Izal, would there still be stock, and which, on shelves at the end of a shopping day.

Given what I have told about 'Izal', I have concluded I would rather use a bog brush.

Basil Brush would be preferable.

Very good

As I have already asserted, I have no recollection whatsoever of purchasing 'Izal'.
From your comments I can only conclude that it is coarser than a Braemar tweed jock-strap.

Not at all, it was super smooth. But lethal if it got a fold in it.

It’s best use was as a musical instrument when wrapped around a comb.

if you scroll down a bit you will see a Viz parody of Izal called 'Badger's Arse' - worth a read,

Indeed. I could also do a fine imitation of Mr Punch using the same equipment.

Used to use it in the Civil Service right up to the early 1990s. Every sheet was stamped "Government Property" ... we were very grateful for it in those days.

Had this stuff when I was at school in 60’s, absolutely horrendous, like trying to wipe your ar5e with a 6 inch square of grease proof paper.

I was in school in the 60s, but hand on heart I have no recollection whatsoever of any experience of the use of toilet paper in this establishment.

You must've to a right posh school or a 'Grammer' Us plebs in the Secondary/Comprehensives back in the 60's knew ALL about IZAL. It was worse if it came out of a small box one sheet at a time.
