sorry to self indulge but if memory serves Izal (and possibly Bronco) had a reverse side without the branding that was a little less shiny with a more fine-grained roughness (to the obverse) which improved matters slightly, or am I wrong?

I have to admit that I have no recollection of using Izal or Bronco and I cannot provide you with a definitive answer.

What I will assert is that your post reminded me of the different surfaces on each side of a Table Tennis bat,a game I haven't played for many a year.

Returning to toilet paper, I am no expert as to the various brands currently available and the differentials in quality and texture.IF companies do not manufacture the more coarse brands of yesteryear this of course might be due to the advancement of modern technology.

Having experienced Izal myself, I'd rather try wiping my arse with a table tennis bat.

I’d rather try a red hot hedgehog.

After killing your hedgehog, wrap itheavily in clay, forming it into a ball and place in the embers of your bonfire for at least half an hour. When you break the baked clay ball open the spines will come off with the clay, and the meat will be piping hot and cooked to perfection.

Happy to help

Thanks for the tip. If things don’t pan out we could need that recipe.
A good few years ago a company started making hedgehog flavoured crisps. A friend wouldn’t believe this until a bag of them were produced. He tried one and announced they were rubbish and didn’t taste anything like a hedgehog.

How about that? He was right! No hedgehog involved.

I don't have any information for certain but it is possible that in some countries, well away from these shores,'Hedgehog' is a delicacy.

Personally I wouldn't be tempted to sample it even if I was persuaded to do so.I would rather sample 'Izal' or 'Bronco' instead !

Bit closer to home Willo, what I quoted is the traditional old Romany way of cooking them...
