I am walking through the woods on my own this morning, when I see the head of an animal. (photo). It was the size of a medium paint tin.
It's a bit tricky, because there is still some flesh at the back of the jaw which obscures the back teeth (another clue) and the additional joint between upper and lower jaw.

Anyone fancy a guess ?

yeah, badger. A young one, at that.

Canine teeth at the front, gradually morphing to flatter chewing teeth at the back.
Badgers also have a unique interlock between skull and jaw (at the back) which makes it very difficult to break a badgers grip on something, without breaking its jaw.
Probably roadkill, with foxes stripping the carcass.

With all the CV-19 cabin fever, I expect to see more body parts in the woods in coming weeks
