I would’ve posted something sooner but I’ve had trouble registering on here.
It’s with great sadness and heavy heart that I have to announce the passing of Doug Patten. He won’t be known by all but I’m sure he’ll be remembered by many.
Doug was a club steward for over 50 years at Palace and I’m sure his smile and infectious laugh will be remember by all who knew him.
Growing up two doors down from “Uncle Doug” I was incredibly fortunate to have known him well. He took me to my first Palace match. Sneaked me in at 12.30 for a 3pm kick off. He managed to get me close enough to meet some of the players including my hero at the time Mark Bright. A moment I’ll never forget.
He was liked by all who met him and the shouts of “Up the Palace” were always a constant reminder of how popular he was as people walked past the house.
He was Palace through and through. A true life long fan. A gentleman and in my eyes one of life’s true hero’s.
RIP uncle Doug you will be greatly missed.

I cannot place Doug Patten by name but given our association with the club over so many years, our paths must have crossed and maybe we had a chinwag or two.

Perhaps if someone could post a photograph of Doug I will recognise him instantly.
