spot on - people need to remember one single thing - the country got its cue for the lockdown from the f*cking premier league NOT the government- they acted first independently then the government followed - the govt were reactive instead of proactive at a crucial time, still considering the herd immunity theory, and the way care homes have been sidelined is bordering on criminal negligence.

More anti government drivel. Funny how easy it is to be wise after the event.

The government were led by science and therefore were taking the steps they thought appropriate.

This is the rhetoric which only the Tories seem capable of mastering.

"You can't argue with what we're doing because it's the only rational thing to do".

Same as with austerity.

And then 10 years down the line you realise they've all mugged us off. People need to wise up to the fact that they are politicians, and everything they do must be held to scrutiny otherwise they will work purely for themselves.

Yet oddly enough Keir Starmer broadly agrees with the evil Tories' actions

Quite. Isn't it so great to have an effective opposition again?

Obviously it's inconceivable that both the Government and opposition are correct and it's you that's in the wrong

it's barely worth replying but the gover
nment were led by scientists, not science, if everyone was led by science they would have done the same thing - other countries used the 'science' and did things differently and better without hindsight - the premier league shut down before it was decided that schools and businesses would - that is a fact like Tuesday follows Monday, denying fact is proper 'drivel' - but I want to avoid the tiresome pathetic tit for tat that these threads too easily turn into.

Pathetic tit for tat was you saying the government should be done for criminal negligence. Ha ha ha. Which countries have done better because this isnt over for anyone yet. Making assumptions of that nature will come back to bite you. Remember your post! So what you are saying is some scientists were correct and some were wrong. Also remember this when you are banging on the eco threads.

Criminal negligence, clutching at straws. If anything the care homes are as negligent being private. They have experts and if not why not. A clear statement from an anti government supporter.

yes I support the anti government - and when were you in favour of nationalising care homes ffs? Nice they've finally decided to include care homes in the stats, the fact they didn't count before just may indicate an attitude of negligence does it not?

When people say 'science' often they mean 'material evidence' and they are not exactly the same thing - science may involve many different interpretations although the consensus around global warming is somewhat unanimous now, and the scientists this govt are using are anonymous, and offering different advice than other countries' scientists. From my understanding, limited obviously, it's that underpinning a lot of fields of science are not base facts or knowledge but an underlying mystery, with immunology for example the mystery is when the immune system recognises a particle as being 'self or not self' - all the data gathered establishes when that point is in a particular circumstance, but 'self or not self' is the underlying unknown or mystery that needs to be solved, so it's not so simple as saying they 'followed' the science - that's a clever cop out based on most people being blinded by science, although there will be a point when the a particular reaction to a particular antigen becomes established, but many theories and opinions will compete until that point is reached. There will be different schools of thought in epidemiology and virology based on how viruses at act different scales, individually or in groups, or whether virions' activity is triggered by genetics or other aspectas of physical structure or dynamics. And it's a new virus so there won't be one scientific view, there never is, only a consensus, some of which will become out-dated.

Possibly, but call me old fashioned, if you set yourself targets and consistently don't meet them, you should probably expect a bit of heat.
