Keir's popularity is on the wane after a mixed performance in his first year of leadership, not helped by his choice of such a dreary bunch of no hoper shadow cabinet.
Now desperate to discredit Boris at all costs to address his rapid decline in fortunes.

He offers nothing new and from what I've observed he just reacts to what his advisors reckon is public opinion. Why not innovate and lead on something for a change? His Shadow Cabinet is exactly what's written on the tin ... in the shadows! A dreary bunch of nobodies.

A dirty business. With this Dyson stuff and those mega bucks contracts that were handed out to politicians mates by the dozen we really ought to appreciate it for what it is. I know we've all become cynical about politicans or imagine that 'the other lot would do the same', but really we should applaud all and any efforts to shine a light on this because it shows individuals up for who they are and what they're all about. You don't get better people in place by sneering at underdog opposition, or by letting our dislike of them excuse this entitled crap.

He's definitely been a bit too ingratiating with the opposition. To be honest within reason I think that implies a balanced outlook, but in either party that really does you no favours with your base. It's a tricky balance of looking for 'everyman' appeal, while also appealing to those wedded to your party. I think he's a decent man, certainly compared to Boris, but I'm not sure that he's PM material. It's so far from an election who knows though.

James Dyson's family pay well over 100 million pounds in UK tax, more from his corporate ventures. It is completely wrong to infer he does not pay tax.

The Johnson/Dyson exchange was months ago, not in the midst of a cronyism scandal.

Talking of which, if Cameron did not break any rules then the rules are wrong. This is not a partisan problem, plenty of senior ex Labour figures are just as deep into the lobbying trough.

This needs to be addressed cross party.

At least the scandal of European jobs for the boys has gone but UK taxpayer still paying huge amounts into EU pension pots.

The Kinnock family took millions from the EU coffers.

Dyson should have gone to his own advisers like.everyone else.

And what if tax roles were broken? Dyson would have his personal assurance from his friend that he can side step rhe Rules that everyone else has to.follow.

It's not about breaking rule its about perception and public confidence in a system of rules.that bind us all

In around 2009 I was speaking to a Tory opposition MP's researcher. He was saying at the time that politics was just getting interesting as the lobbiest were starting to get in touch with opposition MP's. For the first time in over a decade lobbying companies thought they had a chance of getting in power.

I suspect, the real issue for any opposition isn't cronyism or corruption. Its that lobbiest only talk to decision makers or potential decision makers.

With Labour in the state it is currently in, no-one is even going to waste time lobbying them.

That means no one is coming to them with fresh innovative ideas they can challenge the government with.

That just makes Labour's rut harder to climb out of.

In 10 years or so, the Tories will be saying they same about a Labour Government.

So in summary your view is the Labour party will not have any innovative ideas unless they are bought to them by third parties. Looking at the current crop of Labour " talent " I would 100% agree.

2) I doubt they are mates. The UK government was securing services from Dyson PLC. The government was acting as the client and Dyson was seeking clarification that this would not count towards the 90day residency rule for some of his staff as it was an emergency and the exceptional circumstances should kick in. The head of the client organisation was assisting in expediting the execution of the contract.

It takes someone with particular clout from government to go to a world leader in manufacturing to ask them to turn all their R&D effort away from its main business, hault its lucrative vacuum manufacturing process and direct its huge capability towards something its never made before on speculation. A cold call contact from a mediocre civil servant would have not gained the same result.

This reply is testament to the fact that if you like someone you will seek to justify anything.

Cummings wouldn't have leaked if there was nothing wrong.

Ah some Cummings is to be believed now, funny a few months ago the public has a different opinion on his truthfulness.

It just shouldn't be allowed to happen.
Many politicians cross party and many in Whitehall are as bad as each other.
I have no idea how a top civil servant can have second job which could sway him or her On matters of national importance but it is allowed.
Thatcher - like or hate her - was probably the last clean PM - dreadful state of affairs.
As for Whitehall - too many corrupt ones in there - just sack the lot.
