Sincerely hope he pulls through and your family PV. Very tough times and proves that nobody is exempt from this awful disease.

I wish him the best and hope he recovers. Any kind decent person would think the same.

However, I wouldn't fully concur with the statement "most charismatic prime minister we have had". Ok, Disraeli, Churchhill and Major didn't go on a zip wire or rugby tackle a football player at Wembley in charity match. But did he bang the MP for South Derbyshire? The position of most charismatic PM is at least arguable.

You're a tough operator, Boris, so please pull through this one. Good health and luck from this family...and to echo Lord Kitchener, "Your country needs you", more than ever during the current crisis.

Truly shocking news.

Of course I wish him a full recovery and the time needed to make one.

If ever there was a time to set politics aside and pull together then this is it.

We may not see him leading the country for quite a long time after he pulls through. Could be months. Heard Stig Abel say only 20% of people get back to work within a year after being in intensive care.

Shame he didn’t fully step back, rest and sleep 14 hours a day as advised to virus sufferers but there were the usual kind saying he was faking it and hiding away.

I think the videos of him outside clapping for the NHS last Thursday disproved that - he certainly didn't look like a well man then.

Hopefully, as they have said, ITU is just a precautionary measure.

Get well soon Boris

From what I have heard and read the next 24 hours will be critical. If he can get through them without needing to go on a ventilator then he should be able to make a full recovery reasonably quickly, although he should still ease off for a few weeks. It seems though that most who enter an ICU with the virus end up needing ventilation, so let's hope the medics were being especially cautious because of his position. If he does require ventilation then everything changes again, so I really hope he does not.

According to Sky he isn’t on a ventilator and doesn’t have pneumonia which is encouraging.
Michael Gove is now self isolating after a family member showed symptoms.
