Choosing from all Palace squads from the year 2000 onwards, who would be in your dream team?

We will need to see your Manager and subs too!

Why don't you set the ball rolling with your dream team?

Oooo that's tough. Depends on whether we're talking who we like/sentimental vs the best player. Speroni vs Guiata, for example. Assuming we're talking about ability (and Lombardo not included as he finished 99), here's mine:

Guiata

Wan-Bissaka - Cahill - Sakho - Van Aanholt

Jedinak

Routledge - Cabaye - Ambrose - Zaha

AJ

SUBS:

Speroni
Clyne
Popovic
McArthur
Townsend
Gayle

MANAGER:

Sam Allerdyce

NOTABLE OMISSIONS:

Tomkins
Luka
Rihilahti
Freedman
Murray

Why from 2000 onwards, I feel like we are missing out on some of our best players.

—————Speroni

Clyne ——Sakho—Poppovic——Cole

———-Cabaye—Jedi

Wilf——Ambrose——Bolasie

————AJ

subs-
Andros
Davids
Luka
Murray
Freedman
Dann
Wan-Bissaka

Manager - Roy
Assistant- Millen

Obviously Davids was terrible for us and Cole was only here for half a season. But they are 2 of the greatest in their positions ever, I can’t not include them.

Really good idea for a thread!

Ok, from 2000...

Gk: Speroni - in terms of quality, Guiata and Matt Clarke were probably better, but for longevity, and emotional attachment, can only be one choice.

Rb: Wan Bissaka - probably toughest position to choose. Clyne was Rolls Royce, and Butts was a hero if only for that hat trick against Wolves. But AWB was superhuman, and will go on to be a world class right back.

Cb: Delaney and Tomkins - again, tough. Of course if you go on ability, Sakho and Leon Cort are elegant ball playing defenders. I went for Delaney because you need a real leader in there, and his ability to step up in the prem took us all by surprise. Tomkins has been phenomenally consistent for a few years now too. Not much would get past those two.

Lb: PVA - as tempting as it is to choose Clint Hill, PVA is on another level, don't think Clint had Pat's ability to knock goals in from 25 yards!

Cdm: Jedi - probably the position with the most controversy to it. I love Luka, but Jedi was an icon in that role, I can forgive his 5 yard passes in to the stands.

Cm: Derry and MacArthur- hard to remember us winning the midfield too often in the past two decades! Sorely lacked a glamorous number 8 who stuck around for long, so I've gone - in typical Palace tradition - for 3 defensive midfielders. Jimmy mac has been the definition of an unsung hero in the middle for years now, and Derry was a classy player who stepped up when needed most.

Front 3: wilf, Doug, Aj - pretty much picks itself. Clinton was electric in his first stint with us, but buggered off in his best years. Wilf is wilf, dougie was a gem of a player, and AJ basically got us promoted and nearly kept us up singlehandedly.

This side would obviously be different if I went on pure ability. But I've gone based on sentiment mainly, so f*** it.

Manager would be Roy, no doubt about it. We've had a mix of clowns, maniacs and dull as dishwater otherwise.

Subs: Guiata, clyne, Luka, clinton, aki, Murray, bolasie.

Edit! How did I forget Ambrose! I'd stick him in for MacArthur.

Think sentiment has played a part here Monkey.

Loved Clint Hill, but would you honestly pick him over AWB?

Ok. For clarification this selection is made on the basis that the player selected was at the peak of his game when wearing a Palace shirt(which may have been before 2000 in Freedman’s case):

Guita
Boyce
Cahill
Sakho
PVA
Jedi
Cabaye
MacArthur
Freedman
AJ
Zaha
