I am watching Netflix series "An English Game" at the moment. Finding it quite interesting from the history of the FA Cup perspective. As I tend to do, I googled the players involved, this led me to find the participants of the FA Cup in 1872, One was the original Crystal Palace, another was South Norwood FC who played in Portland Road. Apparently they participated in the FA Cup from 1872 until 1879 and had 2 Scottish internationals playing for them. Shirts were blue and white hoops. Has anyone else got any information? Where would they have played in Portland Road?

I see Crystal Palace got to the semis as well and lost to The Royal Engineers in 1872. We really should reclaim that period as a club. Sorry, I can't help over South Norwood - what I can say is it was pretty much a village in the past. I remember Croydon and Bromley being very rural on the outskirts. Seems like a million years ago.

And try to claim we're the oldest club in the football league? We're not that well respected now, let's not make a laughing stock of ourselves anymore than is necessary.

Apparently that has been mooted. On the basis that the present club was re-formed by the owners of the original club, the Crystal Palace company, therefore technically were the same club. It would make CPFC the oldest club side in the world

I can understand the opinion but if it's proven and true there's not much anyone can do about it. It never really took that much of a stretch of the imagination considering how the Exhibition grounds were the original place of the big matches and a team called Crystal Palace clearly existed.
I guess the counter point is how we were formed and where we have played.
We could never really replace the big clubs doing badly as the real laughing stocks. Who hasn't laughed at Man U and Spurs at stages this season? I Haven’t seen that many people laughing at us. Except at Benteke's scoring efforts and that is mostly from us.
