My contract with O2 ended a few months back. I moved over to a SIM only arrangement with Giffgaff who are an O2 subsidiary - unlimited texts/calls and 15GB of data for fifteen quid a month. Coverage and 4G internet as fast and reliable as it always was. Also still using my two and a half year old OnePlus 5t whose performance is still as good as it was when I first got it, which is more than can be said for my sh*tty, crappy Samsung S6 which deteriorated badly after a little over a year.

I don’t know how people put up with and stay with 02. Paying for something that is often useless. EE put O2 to shame on coverage and speed. But I think EE may have increased their prices. So unless you’re an existing customer or you manage to negotiate on the the price, you’re probably going to have to sign up for either not enough data or too much and be charged quite a bit more than competitors. But paying for something that doesn’t work with O2 unless you use WiFi most of the time I’d probably still be tempted over to EE.

Yes speeds are not the best but this is due to the frequency they went with to give them that coverage plus is 20mb really that bad no it's not. each person is different and in this country we have a lot of different providers. So base it on your own needs and look at
2. budget 3. how much data do you really need. 4. do you want to be tired down for longer term or easily jump between providers 5. other perks ie wifi calling or hotspots even rewards Originally posted by Cucking Funt

I’ve tried O2 in a load of places and it was a load of cr@p. The website shows good coverage but in practice it was terrible. EE works in places you wouldn’t expect it to. In shops, buildings, lifts, trains, just about bloody anywhere. I’ve never cursed having EE, ever. O2 was a complete false economy. It doesn’t work in lots and lots of places. I’d rather not pay less for something that doesn’t do what it should, and I don’t.

The coverage figures were generally better than any rival. Currently I use Giff Gaff for my personal phone and coverage beats my work phone hands down. Despite being able to see the Crystal Palace towers, EE barely works. I agree that buying through Tesco is a good option.
