Always sad when someone passes away, but wonder if some of the senior members on here can remember what I consider to be one of the worst “tackles” I ever saw, this was committed by Norman Hunter in the early 70’s. Palace were at home to Leeds, John Craven found himself clean through just over the half way line, Hunter was the last man and absolutely cut Craven in two with no attempt to play the ball at all, it was utterly and completely about taking the player out. Even to this day when I hear his name that tackle is the first thing that comes to my mind and he didn’t even get a red card.

If I remember correctly that awful tackle was featured in the opening credits of Match of the day for the rest of the season. He was described as a hard tackler by many on the news last night but my memories of him are as a dirty b****** playing for the most appropriate team at the time

If Zaha had been playing back then he would have got kicked on his way into the car park.
