Me neither, not because it was too tense, but because it was s***, one of the worst games you’re ever likely to see. It is funny how such a crap game and an even worse season can end up as one of my favourite palace memories though!! The release of tension when that goal went in was there for all to see, absolute mayhem!!

Yeah, even the greatest games are tough to sit through if you know the score.

Another sh*t but crucial final game in a sh*t season was Palace v Burnley. No, not that one - the one in May 1983 at Selhurst, which Burnley had to win to send us down, having already beaten us twice that season in league and cup. I suppose on that occasion a sh*t game was OK, provided we didn't lose it!

I remember sitting in the Arthur at that game and reflecting on how far we'd sunk in just 4 years since the glory of May 1979.
