Just watched his interview with Chris Grierson on Palace tv. His managerial departure wasn't discussed at all, but Chris loosely mentioned that this would feature in a future documentary!? Seemed to me that Dougie would only do the interview if this topic wasn't raised. I would respect him more if he just said he made a mistake etc and just wants to put it behind him. The end of the interview also seemed to end short and a bit frostily too. First interview I've ever seen him give on Palace tv so it left me intrigued but ultimately dissatisfied. Does anybody know about this alleged documentary about the 2013/14? season?

Fat chance of that happening. We all hate Brighton because of something that Mullery said 45 years ago so on that basis there is no chance of Dougie being forgiven yet.

I think your comparison is a bit unfair midland Freedman scored over 100 goals for us, I think he might have a slight advantage on mullery where forgiveness is concerned

Its Freedman the manager people cant forgive. Freedman the player will always be remembered with affection but he died years ago figuratively speaking.

If I recall correctly, this did come up when Holmesdale radio interviewed him a few years ago and he did say that he regretted leaving

Most people make fairly logical decisions, he saw it as a step up and probably a lot more bunce. I think we’d all probably change jobs under those circumstances, especially when your average job tenure is under 18 months.

I was out of the country during that period. Please enlighten me as to what he said.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Never mind out of the country, I think you must’ve been on another planet for the last 45 years

I've always been a bit mystified by Freedman's departure for Bolton.

The consensus has always been that it was simply money.

Perhaps it was, but given that we were just topping the Championship with a side that included several shrewd signings of his, plus his own long association with the Palace, it did seem odd to leave at that point. It's not as if Bolton were a big club.

I am sure we'd all like to know the full story and whether it was just the lure of filthy lucre or whether there was something else that made him jump ships.

Dougie has no reason to apologize for leaving Palace for Bolton he was on one the lowest salaries in the Championship and Bolton paid him well. As someone else said the average tenure of a Manager is 18 months, he has a family which he must look after first.
