Tbh first reaction, seriously!!. But I think they may be a slow burner and actually be far better than the pics portray.

The 3rd white version is growing on me, maybe a future classic.

The thing is, the home kit needs to be simple, red and blue stripes.

The home hit, it's good enough for me.

The away kit is, in my mind a good chance to have an alternate palace shirt - a colour, style we don't normally have - I have always gone for away shirts for that very reason - they seem more collectible to me.

The 3rd shirt has been a rarity but seems to be a mainstay... this is where you do a crowd pleaser or just something different - like the black sash or a homage shirt.

I have to admit - recently it seems the remit for these shirts is 'appeal or represent the urban, grittier side of south London, the street side' with a lot of our black players - which I find derivative. The music, the editing, too much for me... Sure, tap into that aspect but we have so much more..

This was once a quality forum....

Like the home kit & the third kit, good stuff. But the red, white & blue away shirt with white shorts makes it look like the players are wearing a dress! Come on man, use a darker colour for those shorts!

Its not helpful to bring the colour of someone's skin into this. I doubt the club has launched any kit to appeal to a particular ethnic group and anyway no self respecting Cronx fashionista would be seen dead in any of these hideous concoctions.

We have had the sash, the evil sash, the Brazil kit and now have the toothpaste kit.

So you are claiming Palace only get £3.50 per shirt?

Knowing many people involved in manufacturing etc this is not true at all Palace would be getting at least 20% of retail.

I think you may of read some articles claiming about the poor clubs not making much money when the truth is some of the big clubs may only get that because of the deals they had with sponsors so its a way to manipulate the books.

If some one like Palace only made that much they wouldn't even be able to cover their own costs its a complete lie.

The new kits are awful I really hope people do not buy them to show the club again to listen to the fans it's not hard to let fans choose options for kits via a vote.

listen to the price of football podcast with palace fan kevin day & football finance expert keiran maguire....this will give you facts to work with.

puma would have paid an up front fee to make the clubs merchandise in the 1st place, however after that initial fee most clubs on average only get approx 7% commission on any product sold there after. 7% of £50 is approx £3.50.

the deal liverpool have struck with nike is 20% and thats a one of a kind deal.

Yes, good to see we have our top people on the case. It’s a shame we still have a couple of 4 year olds dealing with in the transfer market. You’d have thought they would have wheeled out the more experienced 9 year olds for that.

Not strictly true but maybe the dad has tried to deflect the blame onto his son, given the reaction

From the website:

"When Richard Melik and his seven-year-old son sat down with sheets of paper and a handful of crayons in October last year, they didn’t realise they’d inspired the process behind designing Crystal Palace’s kits for the following season."

If you were writing an article with the intention to take the piss out of the kits, I can't actually think of a much better first paragraph.
