Thanks for the comments about the pic. Yes I did take the pic, it was before digital cameras and I didnt know what was taken until I got the film developed. One of the kids at the front is my son. Other memories from that game was a banner wishing us luck from the city fans being paraded on the pitch by some palace fans to much cheering from all sides (one of the palace fans was my friend and neighbour).

It's a brilliant photo. I've got a pinterest board of palace stuff, much of it from that era. I would like to add your photo to it if you don't mind?

Not that I can work out how to do it anyway.

Was also at the game, remember coming via Thornton Heath and seeing one of the boozers rammed with City fans but all friendly.
Seem to recall one of City's goal was a screamer.
Little did we know that other cameras were inside the ground that day filming a programme/film about hooliganism and Ron Noades blew his top as to the suggestion that we were involved in that kind of caper.

I used to stand behind that little concrete wall, but on the other side of the goal. The first game I can remember, standing behind that wall, was Palace vs Japan under 21's aroundabouts 1986.

Fair enough Monkey,

Guess I think more of Wright/Bright/Thomas/Martyn widen I think of that team.

I think more of John Humphrey, Richard Shaw and Eddie McGoldrick, too much route one, though we could do with Gray and Thomas in our current midfield

Here's the goals, yes, what a screamer AG, one of my favourite ever Palace players too. Imagine if he'd scored one like that to win the following cup final v Manure, my life would have been complete!
