The workers came from places like Nepal, India, Bangladesh, pakistan, not Africa.

Im not 100% sure about that on all sites but even if it were so, are they not black enough for it to matter or for black people to care, or perhaps there were black people running the jobs rather than being the slave labour. How ironic would that be?

All the same, the stadia have been built using slave labour and on that basis alone it should be boycotted by all.

So many people have died out there.

But apparently you can get fancy photo's for your insta and make ur m8's well jel.

On a more serious note. Not going will be very difficult. I'd compare it to the Lion's tour of South Africa. Go there and bring attention to all the injustices.

But I'd keep statues up for the same reason.

Through my work, I have spoken to a few people who have worked out in the Middle East for British companies. They have told me, that right across the Middle East, the construction workers come almost entirely from South East Asia. They are paid low wages and live in workers' camps. In Dubai, when the recession hit in 2008, construction sites closed down, but the workers were not told and were just left in the camps. The Indian government had to fly their citizens home apparently. There is little or no attention paid to Health & Safety and death rates on sites for the World Cup in Qatar are high according to all press reports I have read. I'm not sure that I can bring myself to watch the next World Cup. Teams being there will not raise awareness either because all the workers will have gone and everything will be bright, shiny and lovely.

It's the most ridiculous venue ever and should have been boycotted for that alone.

Sep Blatter and his cronies should be inside.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

In answer the question, an unequivocal yes.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
