There are lots of bad schools and bad teachers, protected by the NUT. The bad grades are on you.

Grammar schools are a brilliant way to help bright kids from disadvantaged backgrounds to shine. Labour are opposed to this.

Ultimately the more affluent one is, the more likely they are to succeed and most certainly be in a better position to rig the game a bit in their favour. A meritocratic society will always include a degree of hereditary bias. Those that succeed in one generation might pass some of that advantage on to another. You might well do the same.
Everyone has the right to achieve what they are capable of without the burden of prejudice. In practice, that does not mean that there won't be a degree of conscious or unconscious bias against minorities. Neither does it mean that you should force equality on to a meritocratic system.
