Completely ban short corners... They have got to be the most pointless things ever and totally infuriate me!!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

I know the point here is about changing the on pitch rules of the game. I wish they would leave them alone, every season something more ridiculous is introduced, only to be scrapped the next season. The cynic inside me thinks this is just to give Carra and Nevs something to talk about after a 0-0 draw.
Where football should actually change is off the pitch. FFP is b0ll0x and may as well be done away with.
A draft system like NFL would be interesting. But most of all agents, stupid transfer fees and ridiculous wages need to be dealt with somehow but the gutless FA will not do anything. As for the Premier League - they are quite literally representative of everything that is wrong with modern football. But I guess that may take away from big Jim's yellow tie on transfer deadline day (why do we need a deadline? Just to create hype).

In the spirit of the current world we live in, I think each team should have a minimum of 1 man, 1 woman, 1 gender neutral, 1 homosexual man, 1 lesbian, 1 transgender, 1 black player, 1 asian player, 1 ethinic minority player, 1 disabled player (physical), 1 disabled player (mental), 1 OAP, 1 under 16 and a mascot that in no way shape or form can be offensive to anyone in the world.

Oh and everyone gets a medal at the end of the match, regardless of the result.

Crowd to replace clapping with jazz hands and criticism with messages of love and acceptance. Anyone found tutting should be forced to cuddle an away fan for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Reduce the length of a match to 80 minutes BUT time to be controlled by an off pitch time keeper and clock ticks only when the ball is actually in play . Also enforce laws about GK holding ball with hands for more than whatever number of seconds are deemed appropriate

I imagine most matches from official KO time to official end of 80 minutes (not counting half time )might be 100 minutes

would eventually stop ridiculous times wasting late game substitutions
GKs messing over goal kicks .
Delayed thrown ins and free kicks etc etc .

I believe a study was once done re how long the ball is in play for but cannot recall stats ,It could be my 100 minutes guess might be low >

looks like average game is only about 55 Minutes ,So my new law would another 25 minutes of the football we pay to watch

I would make diving a red card offence, allow players to actually tackle without receiving a card and I would give a maximum of 2 minutes for VAR decisions to be made, if it takes longer then it can’t really be a clear and obvious mistake

Some interesting ideas. However, I believe the rules of the game should remain as simple as possible.

The more rules for technical infringements that are added the more complex it becomes, and the harder it would be for referees to keep tabs on all that is happening. It could also mean more stoppages. One of the great attractions of football is that it is fairly easy for the uninitiated to familiarise themelves with the rules of the game. The offside rule probably still provides the biggest challenge.

God forbid football should ever become like rugby union. a sport whose rules I still find largely impenetrable.

Follow rugby, clock stops at any stoppage, we may actually see nearer 90 mins of football. Complete overhaul of referees, after watching Rowan Atkinson today this is long overdue

Do you mean that the starting 11 should include the stated minima? If so, care would be needed over the make-up of the bench. Otherwise clubs could make politically incorrect substitutions eg pull off the homosexual man (so to speak) the lesbian and the Asian disabled person and replace them with 3 Anglo-Saxon males.

On the other hand, if substitutions must be 'like-for-like' then squad sizes will need to be much larger than at present.

1. Take time keeping out of the referees responsibility and have a clock like in rugby so everyone knows how long to go, and stop the clock when substitutions are being made so we don’t have this ridiculous process where players are substituted with 30 seconds to go.
2. When a player takes a penalty they should have one go at it like in penalty shootouts, that way it would get rid of the problem of encroachment.
3. When a player is holding someone’s shirt when a corner is being taken it has to be a penalty. Why doesn’t VAR pick up on that?
