Statistically we play better without him.
McCarthy is more skilful and Ayew can handle the penalties, if we ever get another.

Hopefully enjoying some humble pie about now. Luka fantastic tonight. No one else in the squad scores that free kick, great defensive cover and always a great option for CBS to pass out from.

Quite.

But look what has happened with Wan Bissaka et al when they get a chance. The atmosphere will be more u23 like going forwards, so fingers crossed

Yes, sorry, I wasn’t meaning that to be disrespectful to any of the U23 players and you are absolutely right about AWB. I am just concerned that we have a very thin squad and having already suffered injuries to Tomkins, Kelly & Schlupp, if we lose any more first team regulars then we could have a very disappointing end to the season.

Yesterday’s performance was terrific and the longer we can play with that starting eleven the better. Realistically I suppose only James Tomkins would come in for Scott Dann but Dann has been excellent for us when called upon.

We are very fortunate to have access to 5 extremely competent centre halfs , 6 if you count Kouyate who can also play there. We also have excellent cover in the midfield with three subs used yesterday all of whom could start. The only areas of concern if we get injuries are up top and right back.

But at the moment two of those are injured (Tomkins & Kelly) and Sakho has missed most of the season through injury and last time he returned to the team he was crocked again straight away. That realistically only leaves us with Cahill and Dann, both of whom have also missed a number of games this season through injury. Woods is not PL standard.

I am very concerned regarding injuries and how our squad lacks quality and experience once you get past the the (ageing) first sixteen. Comments after the Liverpool game last night would seem to suggest there are a lot of people on here who share the same view.

Hmmmm...so that’s Cahill, Tomkins, PVA and Sakho all now out again with medium to long term injuries. Kelly hasn’t played since returning from injury which just leaves the injury prone Scott Dann as our only match fit Centre Half.

Yep, no injury concerns with our defence whatsoever
