You still end up getting left behind/relatively declining, which is what is happening.

It's a slow and painful car crash that is about to happen yet not completely unavoidable if we act soon.

We are not a 'Big' sought after club with significant resources. We have only just attained 'Category One' academy status. Our stadium is in dire need of an upgrade.

To be in the PL for successive seasons is an achievement in itself after the 'Off-field' problems which we encountered not once but twice in fairly recent times.

We have an ageing squad which needs replacing with little or no resale value and at the present time we will not have the transfer funds for a significant outlay for replacements.

Certainly in terms of a sale, the club is worth far more in the PL than it would be in the Championship! Hodgson is seen as the man to secure our PL survival.

Are you suggesting that another manager could get the current squad to play a far more expansive and entertaining game and secure survival at the same time?

From my perspective we have short-comings in the squad in terms of creativity, the squad is ageing, lacking in energy and mobility at times and Hodgson can only work with the squad he has got.

This is virtually the same squad we've had for 4 years. They can play a different way. Why they arnt is down to tactics. Dont concede for 70 mins. Catch one on the break. Problem being we cant do that breakaway goal if we are trying not to go 2 down.
Luka has not lost his ability as he is a good player. Why he isnt showing it is down to tactics.
He used to be an attacking midfielder. Breaks up play gets forward shoots some times, well he used to and that's one example. If roy thinks they havent got the legs then put a couple of hungry young players on the pitch. Nothing to lose apart from a game which is what we are doing anyway.

The 'Board' believe that given his track record at the club, he is best placed to meet the sole objective, once again, of securing our place in the PL.

Sole objective according to who? Has anyone from the board ever said that?

2nd fewest goals scored in the division (behind Norwich) and comfortably the fewest scored at home.

In the last 7 seasons, only one team has survived scoring 30 goals or less in a season which was Huddersfield in 17/18. Every other time the team has gone down. Only a handful of teams have survived scoring 33/34 - we’ll be lucky to hit that.

Whether you think it’s a fluke or not is irrelevant, it is completely unsustainable the way we approach games - I’ve said it so many times, but any basic level of analysis will prove that.

A season such as the one we’ve played results in a relegation 8 or 9 times out of 10.

Well, I have not heard such sentiments expressed publicly for the benefit of the media.

Steve Parish said that being in the Premier League was '' ground zero '' for Palace.

That was 18 months ago, I doubt it's changed

For me, the tipping point was when McCarthy came on when McArthur was injured.

We're 1-0 down at a club in the bottom 3 who have a shocking defensive record. What on earth was McCarthy going to bring to the table? I can't think of a single moment of attacking football from him this season.

If Meyer isn't going to be used in that situation, then there is absolutely no point us having an even vaguely creative player at the club.

If there's no point having an even vaguely creative player at the club, a club which has scored the second fewest goals in the league, what's the point of anyone turning up? We're just praying for a clean sheet and for someone to score a wonder goal.

I may be wrong but I think there was one. Didn't play the ball that launched to counter-attack that got us a draw at Citeh?

I'm not disagreeing with your comment of his coming on at half-time. At least Jairo and Max got a few more minutes this time. Perhaps they may get a whole half between them soon!

Cash strapped by Sakho, Benteke and Zaha’s wages some say. Well, we could have sold Wilf last year, didn’t. We could have got rid of Benteke, offered him a new contract instead. We could have sold Sakho after Cahill was bought in but didn’t.

If we are so cash strapped why didn’t we do any of the above? Instead we loan two of our centre forwards out, one of them on a stupid loan deal.

We buy a couple of youngsters and we say we also have a couple of decent other youngsters, but we don’t play them. We know we only have one choice at right back and left back but do nothing about it. We have elderly players that break down regularly throughout the season. I think we might have got one full season combined out of Tomkins, Schlupp, Kelly and Sakho.

Why has all this happened or not happened? Because Roy is the manager and he likes old school players who play exactly to his play book. If you don’t confirm you will not get on the pitch. As the Borg would say, “resistance is futile”. Well I for one think we need a few kids out there willing to run their buns off and show a bit of flair before we are buried by our turgid defensive nonsense that is now being found out.

Thanks Roy for keeping us up. Time to move on. Parish, sell Wilf and find another £50m and give all the money to the new manager. This current team is not good enough to stay in the Premier League.

If the manager put out the same team vs United, I just think he has lost the plot.
And why why why not throw in a youngster (or two), start with players comfortable on the ball (ex Riedewald) and at least try to play some decent football.

That is exactly what Norwich tried to do and look what happened to them!

Out of curiosity why a special mention for Chris Powell?

I cannot see anything in his managerial career that puts him as a candidate for other than an assistant manager role perhaps being mentored to take over from someone.

If the Manager's job at Palace became available, I can assure you that there would be no shortage of applicants ( maybe including Chris Powell ) but getting the right candidate will be very tricky.

I agree with your comment about the business - why the rush to extend a one year contract, why not leave it until the season has concluded and not base a decision on performance for two thirds of that ? I suspect Roy didn't have any other offers on the table !

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Hmm, in Farke's three seasons they've hardly spent any money and their net spend is -50m.

They got promoted playing excellent football and didn't strengthen. They have made it clear they were expecting relegation this season. So I doubt it is all about their playing style.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

If Norwich had of attempted to play like us then they may have stayed up. That manager should have been sacked 6 months ago while they were still in with a chance. Madness that he just kept sending him out to be battered week in and out. I couldn't understand it.

They tried to do it with championship level players taking a step up. They hardly spent a penny and as a result they ended up with about 5 or 6 who managed the step up and the rest didn’t. You cannot compare Norwich with any other team in the PL . All credit to them that despite their deficiencies they stuck to their guns and played some attractive stuff.
