Simply pointing out the lack of options for surprise although, as I said, I'd have taken a punt on Pierrick over Meyer.

Roy had no trouble playing exciting football when he had Cabaye and RLC at his disposal.

With regard to your question I think we rattled Liverpool at home.

My view also and that was because we surprised them by the way we attacked their full backs and stopped them coming forward for good chunks of the game. It was the one home defeat I came away from thinking we played really well and deserved something out of the game.

and to answer the question with the one word requested
NO.

Personally I'd have to say no. Roy has not had really a pot to piss in since he has been at Palace. I also do not see who we get in as a replacement who can do a better job than what he is already doing on a practically non existent budget. This is why De Boer flopped (wasn't giving money to spend) so drastically and why Allardyce (again no money) left. Im not saying its right, but I dont want to end up like other teams WBA, Stoke (probably others) who get above their stations and demand better attacking flowing football just for the sake of it, however I do agree it is far far too negative at times.

I personally feel that the game plan is ZAHA. I believe this fully and I find it infuriating as the other night against Burnley he wasn't fit. He wasn't his usual self, and the team rarely looked to get him on the ball. Now regardless of fitness I believe if he isnt in the game, our players dont know how to play differently.

This will rattle some voices on here, but I wish we would just get rid of Zaha now (I still like the fella). I believe that then we can look at playing other ways and stuff and not be a one trick pony team.

One thing that annoys me is how Benteke gets so much stick but we do not play to the guys strengths i.e. crosses into the box and perhaps a 442 formation with ayew playing of him kind of a shipperly/johnson dynamic when we got promote under dowie (yes benteke has missed headers too, i get that). But i find we whip in more crosses into the box which would be bentekes wet dreams when he is not in the team proven the other night with Ayew thinking he is messi or C.Ronaldo trying to chest the ball down instead of heading it, im sure McArthur had a peach of a cross whipped in which he didnt head properly. I saw a lot more crosses the other night without benteke in the team which is weird! I just dont get it.

This summer in my eyes is make or break...

I feel, we need to change the squad up.. get it firing on all cylinders, inject some youth, play our youth and have a system we stick to and look at the bigger picture.

Selling Zaha is the first step, replacing certain players and trusting the new signings, which, we hope, have been well researched by the scouts.

Now, is Roy the right man to lead us into that? At 72?

Now, he can very well kick start it, but a successor will be needed eventually.

It's almost like we need to view this season as if we were relegated - get rid of the high earners that don't give back to the team, focus more on producing our own talent and finding some gems.

If it means another season or 3 of pushing way from relegation as quickly as possible, so be it, it's no different than mid table mediocrity.

No. Unless he wants to go.

As a Yank, I'll start with this. I am embarrassed by the lack of interest from the American owners, who are not remotely well regarded in the U.S. for their team ownership. That aside, given the talent we've got, I think Roy has done a fine job -- better than many other managers would have -- considering the injuries and lack of support from ownership during his tenure.

Many of us complain about the lack of quality and imagination our players show, yet through disciplined defense they've earned a solid place in mid-table, for much of the season staying ahead of clubs with far more expensive and talented players. Before the Liverpool match, we were thrilled at our position. We created no chances and were victims of a series of brilliant goals: 4-0. Yesterday we played a passive first half (deliberately?) and in stark contrast to the previous match, spent most of second half in the penalty area only to lose on a defensive lapse (for which Roy generously assumed responsibility) and keeper's error.

I'd love to see the younger players be given more time, but the pressure for results forces Roy to be conservative. The owners and SP should be telling Roy to see what we've got, and to generate some interest in the faithful by showcasing some of the Academy players.

If I could roll my eyes any further.......

12 points from last 6 games including runaway champions, 2 pts a game, NO, it's not time for Roy to go.

A typical thread after a poor performance. How fickle most people are, this time last week, we had won 4 games on the spin and conceded no goals. Then the talk was of qualifying for Europe, best ever finish etc.
A week later, after 2 defeats, lets get rid of our most successful manager, we have ever had in the Premier.
I very much doubt there are many managers, who could achieve what Roy has on a very limited squad and budget consistently.

In reality we are only likely to have one more year of Hodgson in any event because of Father Time.
I doubt that I’ll be nostalgic for his tenure even if go down under a new manager.
I’ve been a fan for a long time and seen some dross under a number of managers but rarely I have been less excited by our play than this season.
The difference is that Hodgson has a far superior squad to work with than these other managers had.
Zaha, Benteke and Townsend have gone backwards under Hodgson and Selhurst has become a graveyard for strikers as the service is so limited because of the rigidity of our play.
The only player who has improved under Hodgson is Ayew largely as a result of sheer endeavour of the player as opposed to some tactical innovation.
We will never know if the likes of Meyer, Sorloth and Riedewald are good enough because they will never get a decent run in the side in their proper positions.
My opinion is not a knee jerk reaction to one bad result but is based with what I’ve observed over a period of time.
I’m fed up of seeing us play at home with ten behind the ball against the likes of Burnley, Brighton and Bournemouth .
So roll on a new manager at some future date who has more than one play of playing what is supposed to be a sport which gets you on the edge of your seat.

Yes,

Roy and the squad are both declining. The harsh reality is that the only way to change it is to change the manager.

We should make sure that we have someone to replace him with first. Dyche looks to be available soon and he's the person to go to.

With 6 games left and nothing to play for, now would be the ideal time to bring in a new manager. Give the current crop of players chance to prove themselves ready for a recruitement drive in summer.

Sounds harsh, but that's elite sport for you.

Clearly Hodgson will start the season as manager but whether he is still manager at the end is open to debate.

The performances have been uninspiring and home supporters have not been entertained by a plethora of goals. He has however secured survival on a limited spend and has banked credit for this even though the football has been somewhat dour.

One cannot expect to see open, expansive football next season and I suspect it will be very much more of the same.IF this is accompanied by a less than favourable league placing and a relegation struggle, the Board might call time on his services.I do fear for next season and Hodgson could well pay the price.

Given Hodgson's age, the more important question could be why we should start a season with a manager we know we are going to get rid of? It can't be good for recruitement or player motivation.

Allardyce may well of left due to the amount of money but when he first arrived PVA, Luka and Schlupp costing not too short of £50 million were recruited. Unfortunately that type of spending hasn't materialised this season, even if you factor in AWB's significant transfer fee !?! Clearly the only way to change the performances is to put new players on the pitch, either signings or raw talent. Whilst we might say we have been unlucky in the transfer windows, such as Tosun or possibly losing out on signings ? it has been a really poor 2 windows this season in terms of attacking options.

For the reason that he has secured survival for 2 seasons on a limited spend and will do so again this season.

Our primary objective is just to remain in the PL and Hodgson has met this objective on a 'shoestring'. Indeed the football has been dour and uninspiring but many will argue that the end justifies the means.
