One wonders how they are not subject to FFP. We certainly would be if we paid a fraction of that on transfers.

Financially, Villa probably know even if they go down they should be able to get a sizeable chunk for Grealish and Mings to offset that 140m. For me, their biggest problem was their failure to adequately replace Tammy Abraham after his loan ended as they've played some nice football at times but lacked much threat in the box. I will say that I've liked the look of Trezeguet in the games I've seen him in (even if he did get sent off against us last time!) and if he's looking for a club if they go down I'd be happy to see him at the club and Mings (if they'd sell him at a discount).

However, much now depends on how the Chinese flu affects football clubs' bottom line, both here and in Europe. It will be interesting to see how transfer fees move over this next window, which I understand opens c27th July and closes early October.
