Villa have had some bad luck this season, including that penalty last night (VAR looked at it for what, 3 seconds? You do wonder if it had been Grealish whether they might have reviewed it more thoroughly). There doesn't look to be a real passionate desire in them to get out of the position they're in compared to recent performances from the likes of West Ham and BHA (that leaves a bad taste saying that) and they look very light up front (even compared to us). Grealish no longer seems to be making much of an impact either and seems to drift out of games.

Our record against teams below us is very, very good and despite some abject performances I think the players will know this may be our last chance to win some points.

2-0 Wilf and Tekkers

Including the ruling out of a goal against us.

As to their attitude - that's the problem when you try and buy a whole team (Fulham made the same mistake last year). Most of VIlla's new recruits will probably be ion their way once they are relegated and sadly (I say that because I live about 7 miles from the ground so an easy away game for me to watch) I think they will be going down.

As to the result, I'll stick with us avoiding defeat as we have in all the other 11 games against the current bottom six.

A.Villa's 'Net spend' this season has been £140 Mill.
Fulham's net spend in the season they were relegated was £100 Mill.

One wonders how they are not subject to FFP. We certainly would be if we paid a fraction of that on transfers.

Financially, Villa probably know even if they go down they should be able to get a sizeable chunk for Grealish and Mings to offset that 140m. For me, their biggest problem was their failure to adequately replace Tammy Abraham after his loan ended as they've played some nice football at times but lacked much threat in the box. I will say that I've liked the look of Trezeguet in the games I've seen him in (even if he did get sent off against us last time!) and if he's looking for a club if they go down I'd be happy to see him at the club and Mings (if they'd sell him at a discount).

Now that he's an English international, I can't see him going for the kind of money we can afford. Bear in mind he is 27 so won't be that long before hsi resale value will start to drop.
However, much now depends on how the Chinese flu affects football clubs' bottom line, both here and in Europe.

It will be interesting to see how transfer fees move over this next window, which I understand opens c27th July and closes early October.

I know he's not going to come to us, but I'd take him if he wanted to come I think some Championship and lower league players will go on the cheap to balance the books, but the PL appears to have been a bit better protected. There might be more loans than normal to get wages off the books.

Me too.
Also, I'll be interested in who Chelsea want to off-load so a to pay for Havertz and who might be available on loan.

Is Luke suspended for 2 games as he has 10 yellow cards?

I read this board everyday but never write anything; except this.

No, you're not wrong. The clock, so to speak, stopped after 32 games.

Not sure of relevance but villas error was last season where I understood they somehow only had 11 players under contract. Heard that on R5 and wonder whether it's true? If so they had to build a team from scratch. So not quite money bags.
