Reading the BBC website the CAS report said that some of the more serious charges were time barred I assume they meant there was a statute of limitations. They then go on to confirm that UEAFA were correct that City failed to co-operate with the investigation but that didn't warrant a ban in itself. So if I understand correctly if you do something wrong your lawyers will advise you not to co-operate and drag the investigation out for as long as possible and eventually the charges will be dropped as time has run out. Most weekends, I'm bemoaning the diving/cheating/getting in ref's face way that the top clubs go about their Business and I hate that Palace will never be there. But there's a sweet spot in middle of the season where on a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday night, a Competition that has absolutely nothing to do with Palace ore relegation is on and I can just have a few beers and root for an English side because, well, it's still okay to be patriotic and hope an English Team does better than another Country from time to time, no matter how many people seem to hate being English recently! I'd rather watch a good Arsenal or Tottenham with more chance to go far in a Competition play good football than a Burnley or Sheffield United be cannon-fodder. What's more, even if one of those 2 clubs go on a good run in Europe, I still don't get excited about coming home after work mid-week and watching Sheffield. I'd rather watch Tottenham/Inter or Arsenal/Dortmund for example. Of course if it was Palace that forced their way into that spot, I'd be overjoyed and buzzing to see a lower league Team try Europe midweek. Does that make me a hypocrite? Yes. I'm a football fan.

Haha, as a reward to Pep and in light of their escape with penalties from UEFA regarding FFP, the Board are going to give Pep £150m to bolster his squad. You couldn't make it up! As you say Crvenaeagle, money talks.

I disagree, I think its great that there are other teams getting a chance to play Euro football and I think it makes a refreshing change to not see teams who think they deserve to be in Europe just because of previous seasons successes. If the traditional top 6 had it their way they would not have to qualify for european football at all and that situation would not be good for football.

UEAFA have to decide what FFP actually means then they can redraw the rules accordingly. I think FFP should be about stopping clubs buying success then going bust and owing money. On that basis I am fine with Man City and their mega rich owner pumping money into the club, maybe it will be Palace one day. UEAFA seem to think that FFP is about protecting the elite well established clubs by pulling up the ladder behind them.

It would've stopped the Newcastle deal as it looks likely they'll be the new PSG and as someone mentioned above, it would have meant City won't just throw £150 million at the Summer transfer window to have the Title sewn up by February. They are already in better form than Liverpool and Liverpool are restricted who they can buy in the Summer, so an injury to the front 3 combined with City spending £150 million will make the league an absolute farce and snore-fest again. It was this weird independent Body that made UEFA look like fools. Now no one will ever take them seriously again or comply with their Searches. They basically need to avoid UEFA and be as unhelpful as possible until the statute of limitations passes and the random Independent Body clears them.

I don't think they are weird at all they are a legal body the fault lies with UEFA rules. I am not surprised that City got away with it. Practically every time Football rules are tested in a court of law they are found wanting e.g. Bosman ruling. It is quite clear from the judgement that CAS did not clear City completely but they can only go by the rules that UEFA set which obviously had loopholes that City exploited.

The football authorities do not have the money to challenge the super rich clubs head on in the courts. They might as well scrap Fairplay rules if they are not enforceable and replace them with a simpler system that can be enforced to keep the playing field as level as possible.
