Think this need exploring further. How can they sign a player if failed FFP, and assume that not being Europe makes them less lightly to be able to pay at the end of season

There is a whiff of Hypocrisy on this particular thread.
Go back and read through some of the earlier Sorloth threads and you will find the almost unanimous verdict of posters on here was that he wasn't up to the PL and we should get rid.

Fully agree with you and our loss will be probably Leipzig's gain.Very bad decision by Roy and his coaching staff as Sorloth's high scoring performances speak for themselves.

Who signed him in the first place ? Roy was one of the main reasons we signed him so he obviously had high hopes for him but something didn’t work out while he was here.

Just after we signed him:

Hodgson had the opportunity to get the views of those he knows well in Norwegian football - including the current national coach Lars Lagerback and former coach Per-Mathias Hogmo, both of whom were extremely positive of Palace's latest signing.

“Lars was unbelievably positive in every respect and yesterday evening I had another very positive message from Per-Mathias Hogmo who also congratulated us on the signing as he thinks we have signed a very good player. We’ve watched Alexander a lot and we think we knew what we were signing when we approached Midtjylland to buy him but it’s also very good for me to be able to speak to Lars and get the text from Per-Mathias who both supported our view that this is a player who can do well in the Premier League.

“It was sufficient for me to watch the video tapes, to go on the advice of our scouts who had seen him play live. But then in particular [it was good to] to speak to someone I know and whose judgment in football I trust and ask him what he thought. I was expecting him to be slightly less 100% behind the thought than he was. He backed Alexander to be a big success in the Premier League, and that was enough for me."

Big time, unbelievable carry on. Not one of them had a good thing to say about him when they watched him struggle to play football for us.

Oh well. Time will tell if he goes on to be a success. Whether that’s in Turkey or Germany. We move on as will he. Good luck to him, I am pleased he is now scoring goals.

Didn’t do well in the premier league (albeit with limited time). He did even worse in Belgium. He has now found his feet.

As a poster suggested above, let’s see if we can get some money for him for us to reinvest in the squad.

Maybe and maybe he's benefitted from playing a full season and has improved - strikers really need to play don't they.

It’s not just game time. Style of play is a huge impact as well. It’s why KdB was cast out on the cheap by Mourinho and Salah got minimal joy at Chelsea. Also why Benteke hasn’t achieved the Villa heights since. Same for Sanchez at United etc.

He doesn’t suit our style of play I suspect unless we’ve meaningfully changed the midfield and wide players (which we haven’t)

I think this is a good point, have we been overlooking the fact that players his age can and do improve.

Most people here seem to agree that he did not impress at Palace or on his loan spell in Belgium, and up to this year I think he had 2 goals in 20 internationals. A sign that he could be improving is that he now has 8 goals in 25 internationals games and is scoring freely in Turkey.

I remember that from Roy very clearly, seemed almost the first time he had a say in a transfer.

He was a young unfinished player and I suspect Roy was happy for him to go on loan to get playing time but did not sanction a deal that effectively meant he was gone for CPFC.

I doubt the real story will ever be known outside the inner circle

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

We should have sent him straight out on loan from the beginning... in the champ... that would have really helped him... you can't go from Norway straight to the premier, it's rare.

Don't understand this about Alexander Sorloth, We bought him for 27 and a half Million played 12 times sent him out on loan to Turkish club who can buy him for 5 and half million lost of 22 million what person sanctioned that deal, whoever did should be Sacked because he definitely can't do Sums, that 22 million could have brought Watkins of Brentford.
