I think it was always a question of timing and ultimately availability of a replacement.
Roy has not covered himself in glory after the re start, but it only leaves him vunerable if the club feel there is an ideal replacement out there.
Historically the candidate would be English and experienced so the 2 who fit that are potentially available in Dyche and Howe.
In my oppinion if the right fit is about now then we need to go with it.

Let's wait and see, oh, hang on.........

This is a truly redundant thread

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Do you remember what they said last year about Roy

Do you remember what Roy said when he left England Football team?

"Now is the time for someone else to oversee the progress of this young hungry and extremely talent group...."

Roy you go round in circles, nothing improves.. standing still means going backwards!!

Sorry Rudi but I have never been great fan of Benteke, in his first season he did score 15 goals and in fairness to him that did probably keep us in the PL. He has not done much since. I personally found him lazy and lacking in mobility always waiting for the ball to come to him (his head) and not working defenders when he did not have the ball (unlike Vardy), as you rightly say his floor skills were fairly limited. Remember the penalty he missed in the last minute at home to Man City. IMO Roy has had limited choices with the squad that he had largely inherited, made worse by a fairly long run of long term injuries in a relatively small squad. Sam Allardyce, was manager for 23 games (points per game 1.26), at the end of the season he knew that the team would struggle and when he knew the cash was not there he walked as did Pulis before him. The team has tried to play expansive football under Pardew and FdB and each time we were nearly relegated had their tenue continued. Whereas Roy Has stuck with us and IMO against the odds kept us in the PL.
I appreciate that others have different opposing views and that is there right. However what I would like to see now is us all pulling together around Roy and hope he gets the players he wants and the support from the board that he deserves.

Don’t want to sound pedantic but Luka missed the Man City penalty, CB missed against Bournemouth, still never understand why he took it or why the other players allowed him to

Yeah - We must be the envy of the Premier League with the group of hungry and talented players we have.

As for four years ago quite a few of those players have proven to be bang average and choked again when offered a bye to the World Cup final two years ago.

Why do we keep believing that the likes of Sean Dyche is going to be drawn to a less successful Premiership team like Palace? His future lies with a Top 6 team and a step up to Europe for which he had a brief taste of via Burnley a couple of seasons ago. Nearest Palace will get to Europe is weekend break via Eurostar at present.

There you go, it's the attention to detail that is so lacking at our club!

"It's been a fantastic journey"

Going out in the first round of a world cup for the first time ever with 1 point from a draw against Costa Rica and losing to Iceland after drawing with Slovakia and Russia and only scraping past Wales with a last minute winner.

Interest in the national team was at an all time low when he left. Southgate only really got the job because of a nationwide appathy towards the role. 2012 was a bit of a free pass due to the circumstances he was hired under, 2014 and 2016 were national embarressments.

As far as England go I think there is a simple answer to why he didn't succeed. Listen to any football pundit and they will tell you that Roy's system requires complete adherence to a specific plan which is honed by hours after hours of positional work on the training field. With an England team you do not get the opportunity to spend that much time with players and certainly not the days of specific training that he insists on.

On that basis alone you will probably find that his teams were not able to implement his tactics which is why they looked so lost out on the pitch against pretty mediocre opposition.

That's my take on it, I could be wrong, but those in charge should not have given him the England job if they knew how he works as a manager.

You win competitions at the highest level with an inspirational manager who gets the very best out of the players you have, not with a system that you try and shoehorn the players into.
