I'd say the biggest reason he won't go to Barca is that there is absolutely no way in hell they're interested in him.

If ever there was an agent leaking stories to the press to try and get the attention of top 6 clubs, this is it.

Wilf is a fantastic dribbler but his end product isn't great at all, nowhere near Barcelona standards.

Spot on

Surround him with quality players where he doesn't get to be a diva and then we'll find out how good he really is. When his head is straight he wins matches on his own and that is well recognised by top coaches. The reality is the two seasons before this one he had a huge hand in our survival, often helping us to claw last gasp wins and draws like at Arsenal and Watford. He's let the fans down this season, even if it was not intentional, but I just don't buy into this narrative that we overrate him. As I said, we'll only find out if he actually finally gets a move to a big club (a proper big club not a mediocre one like Everton).

I agree with this.

He’s really not that good. Never understood all of the ‘he’s our best ever player ‘ talk.
A decent player that can easily be talked/muscled off his game.
Great skills but his crossing is poor and shooting is embarrassing (apart from the Chelsea goal).
No level of consistency, the top 4 /best teams in Europe do not have players that are a 9 one week and a 2/3 the next.
He’s done some really good things for Palace and have enjoyed some of his performances, but behind Salako as a winger for me.
Stats don’t lie and he hasn’t set the world alight for us.
Just my opinion, but looking forward to him Benteke and Sakho going so we can get our top earners down to a level the club should be at 50/60 grand a week.

I agree. He has been great for us when he's on his game but he gets extra adulation because he is one of our own. I posted on this thread earlier that i thought Nathan Redmond was a better player and i got called out for it. As for Salako, he was a better player than Wilf, naturally two footed and always had his head up. Would have got a lot of England caps if not for that terrible injury

Jeez, our fans can’t even agree that Wilf is a decent player. Unbelievable!

He could make an impact at any team in the world. Not necessarily a starter at somewhere like Barca but he would have more time on the ball in the Spanish, French or Italian leagues and as others have said, decent sides will punish a team that tries to double or triple mark him to take him out the game.

He is the best player we have had by a country mile and I don’t remember Salako turning games round on his own like Wilf can.

I really hope he goes to a foreign league, I don’t want to see him playing against us.

I can’t believe you’re serious. We’re talking about a player who scored 4 goals and managed 3 assists in the entire season! There’s no way any top club are going to be interested in him with those kind of stats.

I have said for years that a move abroad would suit him best, due to the amount of time he would get on the ball before being tackled & at a big club he would not be the only star. A top coach would, no doubt, improve his final ball & goal return, look what Pep has achieved with Sterling.
He has been outstanding most seasons, & if people don't recognise that there really is nothing to say.

Everyone knows Wilf, is a brilliant player. That in a way is why .we should know it’s time for him to move on.
It wasn’t the Wilf we know and need this year . The manager knows how good he is, but acknowledges Wilf, wants out. No club should fall into the trap of relying on players that won’t give everything for them. Surely Wilf, has made it obvious that’s where he is at.
How good he is, or could be , becomes irrelevant , if he would prefer sulking to performing at his best. We at Palace will always know how good he is. But as with where ever else he plays, we need and deserve a committed Wilf. Remember we pay his inflated wages, it’s not to be judged purely on sentiment.

Spot on. His head is clearly directed at being somewhere else next season. He has shown this season what he would be like here next season if he stays. Time for him to go and (Hopefully) for us to reinvest the dwindling proceeds we are likely to get.

Tottenham,Barcelona,Everton and Arsenal all linked.
In the Englebert hit,the line " please release me,let me go" seems very appropriate and Wilf,a very loyal servant over many years, should be allowed to leave and follow his dream of competing at the highest level.
No one can begrudge him that.

Wilf would never go abroad. A lot of English players have a fear of leaving home and he is one of them. Would love to see him thrive in Barcelona but it jus' ain't gon' happin.
In fact, didn't he have the chance to go to Bayern once before and he said no for that exact reason?

I'm no soothsayer, but I'm almost certain that he will be at some cack mid to Europa leage level team next season, winning faff all.

I thought Wilf was hankering to play at the highest level as in European football. He would have that instantly with Bayern or Barcelona. He certainly wouldn’t get that with Everton or Newcastle.
