Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson on the future of Wilfried Zaha: "It’s a dilemma for the club and for him if he is so set on leaving.

"We still like him very much, we can't make him like us. It’s obviously affected him because his form in the last few weeks has been quite poor considering what he is capable of doing. I don’t have an answer."

Odd timing. Not sure promoting a senior players desire to leave (even if already rumoured / taken as true) is good for business commercially. Smacks of Hodgson throwing Wilf under the bus. Trying to save his own job by blaming the poor form on Wilf rather than his fetish for defensive midfielders.

Looking at him today ,it’s time for him to move on. The whole team moved up a gear today, same old Wilf, we have seen all season turned up. It’s time to bite the bullet and let him move on.
As Hodgson, says he has been out of form all season. He also says we need forwards , If Wilf , goes maybe a different approach will be taken to the business of scoring goals. It’s sad to see , but it’s obvious Wilf hasn’t been completely on board since last summer .Its time for a parting of the ways.

Gut feeling is that Zaha knows that Palace are frustratingly going nowhere fast with player resources available at present. He surely craves the opportunity to play for a club with European involvement and push himself on as player. He is the equivalent of a teacher who has served admirably for a school for a sufficient number of years yet needs to move on to greater challenges to fulfil his true potential.

I agree it’s sad to see and I also agree it’s time for us to move on and for Wilf to move on.

All the clubs that could afford him will look at his Opta stats this year & will not think him worth the investment.

WZ will be a Palace player on 12th Sept & not through choice IMHO.

It is rumoured he f we lt the club were pricing him out of a move. He has single handedly solved that by being at below his best pretty much all season.

His temperament has also been an issue as he is so easy to wind up and constantly moans - possibly with reason as other teams target him and wind him up.

He along with Sakho Meyer and Benteke are our biggest earners. None has been worth the money we pay them. Getting shot of all 4 would free up enough to really bring some life back into the team

But knowing our luck Roy will opt for experience and sign Troy Deeny from Watford on a free.

Perhaps BUT they know that he's still capable of turning a game in a moment and if a club thinks they can get him to perform more consistently, they'll go for him.

As for the fee SP will demand, I suspect he'll be ready to lower his expectations because the board need money to invest in the squad and Wilf is the only asset who can provide it. If a team such as Leicester, or Everton or Newcastle offer £40m, I'd expect SP to take it because Wilf's value will only go down in future, if he stays with us.

He's been unbelievable for us for so many years but it's clear his heart isn't in it any more. Time for him to move on but not sure where he can go considering his lack of end product.
