Bats, not for me, there are better cheaper strikers out there.

I would have preferred we got maximum value for him which was probably end of last season. I think that ship has sailed now. If we get enough money in to pay for someone like Kostic and another decent player I’d still be happy for him to go but anything less and we should be pushing hard to hold onto him. He has more value to us than to a top 6 team in the whole scheme of things.

Definitely, he is much more value to us than any cash we would receive. i'l be gutted if he leaves us but a part of me is also very curious to see how he would get on at a Champions league club.

So, to answer your question, I wanted him gone last summer. There was this weird under lying negativity.. his reps/family getting involved.. saying he wants Arsenal, Zaha himself hinting he was disappointed not to go - I mean a lot of us thought there was a gentleman's agreement that if he signs on, then hat helps the fee, but parish won't stand in his way... well, he did. We all know on the market he isn't worth what parish was asking for.

This season, he hasn't achieved anything with us..and we haven't really achieved anything with him.. sure, we can blame covid-19 but we could have sold for 45, pocketed what 30 mil? Reduced the wages, invested in a replacement and they would have had a year to get involved.

Instead, we got a player that wants out, we'll be lucky to get 40 mil for him and restructure the midfield this summer...

I honestly think Parish was caught off guard with the AWB bid - did he want to sell two star players in one summer?

This was once a quality forum....

I don't think Parish will listen to anything less than 50m if it's true that United will take a big chunk of change from any deal. However, I could see a situation where to please all parties the club took say 40/50 up front and then 20-30 in instalments or based on appearances, goals, etc.

When you consider that Chelsea have already paid a combined 93m euros on Werner and Ziyech and seemingly have plans to spend more, I wouldn't necessarily buy into the hype about COVID-19 restricting the spending of the big clubs. On the Chelsea front, with these signings the only way I could see them being interested in Wilf is if Willian were to leave, otherwise where would he fit in?

40/50 up front and then 20/30 what?
I assume that you aren’t talking about millions of pounds ??

I do think that Roy has used Zaha differently this year. He has been expected to defend more which is essential if he has ambitions to join a big club.
It has not really worked well for Zaha as an individual although prior to the lockdown we had substantial periods of looking solid.
The dilemma for any bigger club is that they want a player who can attack and defend. Doing both has blunted Zahas effectiveness in the final third. Recently it has just looked wrong. I think he is a wonderful player who needs a team built around him. Who apart from us is going to do that?
Those who criticise Bats are not looking at his goals ratio at Palace unfortunately that is likely to get him other suitors higher up the premier league chain.

If you want a true picture of Bats ability, speak to the Chelsea fans, they know his limitations. He is no better than Benteke when it comes to one on ones and can be extremely lazy. He does have other qualities such as being instinctive when the ball arrives quickly to him but there are better strikers out there at that price.

Given he's dropped down the pecking order at Chelsea, what price do you think Chelsea are wanting for him? I suspect he'll be one of the half a dozen players to be cleared out this window, so we may be surprised at how small a fee they will be willing to accept.

They were previously talking £35m plus which I think is too much. If it were say £15m then yes, but I'm just not convinced he is the answer to our problems.

His hold up play or play on the halfway line is pretty non existent. Doesn’t help us or him with how we set up or play out under pressure some of the time.

If I was Zaha, after the last couple of seasons, I'd want to leave.

The main question is where will he go. Chelsea seem the most likely option. I can't really see him going to Arsenal.

Not sure what Chelsea's backing will be like this summer, and they've already got Barkley, RLC, Mount, Willian, and Pulisc. Zaha will be seen as a gamble for Lampard, which I think he'll avoid. Chelsea really need

Leicester, Wolves, and a Saudi owned Newcastle might be outside bets along with Everton. If they can afford him.

I hope he'll stay. If he leaves that will also leave us with Townsend and Schlup on the wings. Why we bought Cahill, Kouyate, and McCarthy in whilst we are so weak in other positions seems very strange.

He did look in and out of games. They key stat for me is 5 goals in 11 appearances.

Yes BUT two of those came in the last game against Bournemouth where it seemed to me both managers sent their teams out to score goals and we fans had a good time watching the match. His goal against Leicester seemed a little fluky but reinforces those Chelsea fans who say he's good at reacting quickly. Having said that, I'd take him for the right price (not more than £20m).
Finally, this thread is supposed to be about Zaha rumours - well that's what I called it when I started it!
