Wrong the tweet was the same image that BT Sport posted on twitter which is why it was removed on their.

Even if it was TV pictures it doesn't matter a straight line is a straight line.

VAR people do not do the lines correctly they appear to do it on the forward player then shift it excluding the lines of the pitch which is wrong doesn't matter what the camera angle is you should always line it up with the pitch markings.

Don’t understand how that photo supports your point. Your new lines all wonky. How you can say that obvious, I don’t understand

The added line is inline with the line markings on the pitch the var one goes at an different angle it's very clear.

This is one taken off tv look at the pitch lines compared to the var lines they are not even straight you play to the pitch lines yet the dumb var people can't even get that right.

A square box which is edge of box to show if you look straight on which lines up with goal line which camera is looking straight at and then you have another which is same angle as the edge of the penalty box line it shows the difference clearly

If you can't understand this you really do have a low IQ and even returning to school may not help you.

Coming from someone who struggles so badly with the English language? Priceless.

Let's put this in perspective. Yellow line taken from the edge of the box. Blue from the penalty spot.

The VAR line is correct.

You are not taking into account perspective. The yellow line might be parallel to the penalty box line but look at the grass lines to the right, they appear to be miles out of parallel and that is all down to camera perspective.

The only time you have a “pure” assessment is if the photo is taken in the exact spot on the pitch where the infringement occurs so that the photo is exactly in line. I presume they have some system that compensates for perspective, but for me, all that means is that they have added some guesswork and therefore exceptionally close calls like the one last night should be allowed.

The other issue of course is we never get to see when the ball leaves the players boot. That fraction of a second can make a big difference to whether the player is on or off. This is yet another reason why marginal decisions should back the attacker rather than the defender

The only way around this is to bring in the clear and obvious rule that seems to apply elsewhere or scrap offside altogether.

Exactly I just watched MOTD it's all well and good showing us the red line which proves he is millimetres offside but unless you can prove that that picture is taken at the exact moment the ball leaves the players foot there is always going to be an element of doubt.

In fairness to the makers of VAR they have acknowledged there is a tolerance and I believe they have said it is not meant to be used like that.

Would you just a speed gun that said you broke the law by 0.0001 mph, of course not.

The rule makers need to make it clear it has to be an obvious error and the benefit of the doubt should be with the goal scorer or team claiming a penalty. You should have a reason to rule it out not rule it in.

Have you thought about watching something you enjoy?

I appreciate being a miserable b****** comes naturally to you, but take a look around you there is so much more in the world to get depressed about*

Of course it’s entirely possible though that moaning is what you love. But to call others stupid continually is a bit unfair, as I wouldn’t back you not to get caught in a acme trap laid by Wile-e-Coyote.

*I too believe RH is stuck in his ways and should change things up - but bigger picture and all that.

Robbed by the officials/VAR for the second game in a row. A much better performance - except from Luka who as usual committed too many fouls and misplaced too many passes, and Ayew who ruined at least two good breaks with awful final balls. Makes you wonder why we can put in good displays against Chelsea and Man U but are so dismal against Burnley and Villa. But at the end of the day we were opened up too easily again by the good team; that's 6 defeats in a row and we've only scored in one of those. Still for me the case that Hodgson must go.

Not sure if I've understood you right but as I look at the picture you posted, the angle of the camera is such that the purple line is parallel to the outer edge of the penalty area and the yellow line with the goal-line. Camera angles are strange optical illusions are they not?

I am increasingly of the opinion that the VAR system isn't yet good enough to enable officials to make the fine distinctions they are being asked to make. We are still left with the thorny question of whether the system is 100% accurate in identifying at what nano-second the ball left the supplier's foot/head etc.

No its not the yellow line added is parallel to the edge of the whole box line.

the grey box is a square showing how it would be if you was looking down the goal line so you can see a slight angle change happens due to camera but not like the var people have done it which doesn't line up with any of the pitch lines.

it's simple they play to the pitch lines so that is what you compare.

and to the Muppet few posts above trying to use the penalty spot that is just a dot you can't use that you its round that would mean you can make up any angle you want.

I agree with VAR comments, they have to rectify referee mistakes otherwise no point in having it, they have to review offside rule now we have VAR, all these lines are stupid and take too long, they could say if any part of your body is in line with last defender then your on side this would then put a stop to all this nonsense.

As for Roy, still grateful that he has kept up and that we were safe before this awful run. Just be happy were were not in relegation fight with a run like this and look forward to something better next season with some new faces in the squad hopefully.
