£8m is hardly going to help to fund a bid for Sarr! in fact, it's the idea that we're even considering a bid for Sarr that makes me laugh.
And, of course, it is the Mail!
Finally, I can't see Benteke going anywhere even if his wages were reduced when his contract was extended.

Saved me typing like Benteke looks for anything go save him running.

2 opposition players and the ball to chase down? Why bother?

Palace would also get his wages off their budget which would be a big advantage. But if Zaha went for £40m or so, that would make a Sarr bid possible. But we'd still need a front man to replace him. Maybe that's where our rumoured interest in Watkins comes in?

Massive error giving him a contract extension.

Could not agree more, too many errors at this golf club with contracts/transfers. Who is to blame, well at the end of the day has to be Parish as nothing gets done without his approval. We can even thank him for the Americans and we have all seen what a great asset they have been to this club. Makes me boil when I see how Brighton are getting with strengthening their squad and all we are doing is treading water yet again!

It's difficult but I think we have to be patient. If no one but Ferguson has come in before next Monday, when preseason starts, then we have a problem

If nobody was ever interested in investing in Palace then there is the argument the Americans did provide the finance at the time of the Allardyce period to keep us in the Prem. Those signings are still with us. I’m not thrilled with the Americans but they served one purpose and our squad was the most vulnerable then apart from under Pulis possibly.

£8m for a Premiership striker is laughable although admittedly goal-scoring hasn't been Benteke's forte for a couple of seasons now therefore one concludes that price reflects his hold up ability.

Not sure that his contract extension would have been on the same terms as his original contract. Surely we can’t be that stupid?

have to agree, else SP should be shot.

Guessing player wouldn't take a massive drop but hopefully it is more incentive based. Must have a release fee in there too as that's mainly why Palace extended.
He will not be on £120k going forward

If Dazza and Ed Malyon are right, we should be getting some news this week. We can but hope.

As to pre-season starting next Monday, one wonders how many of our squad will actually be fit enough to even start the process!

Although grossly overpaid he's been crying out for decent service for 2 years. Now we're linked with all these attacking players to provide that service we're flogging him, makes sense.

If he goes we'll need at least two strikers as relying solely on Wickham is a recipe for disaster.

I always disagree with this decent service thing, what does he want the ball plopped straight on his head 5 yards out all the time?? He doesn’t attack the ball in the area, he doesn’t break sweat to try and make something happen, yes we’re not creating a lot of chances at the moment, but even when we were he was missing them after that first season. He just hasn’t got that fire in his belly, he’s now on easy street largely thanks to the crazy money he’s earning and no competition

I'm genuinely not trying to be ITK (which I'm not) but I really feel the fans speculating on Edouard, Sarr, Eze and others are in for a real (but predictable) let down. Even if Parish had the gumption to rice and transact a deal properly (the last 6 or 7 years suggest he doesn't), I don't think that the PL revenues have been as well stewarded/retained as they could have been. Only my opinion, I understand that. But the accounts, habitually late, suggest that.

I think Ryan Fraser (and his attitude) may be the most likely deal. And O-Samuel (QPR). With SP's brinkmanship on Wilf's value quite likely to leave us with a player who has done his best but wants to be elsewhere.

That we extended Benteke's contract (it did not protect his transfer value) and still rely on Conor speaks volumes for SP's lack of acievement and ambition. Despite or perhaps because of being handsomely paid as both shareholder and executive.

Mot intended to be controversial. Just how I see it.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

Apologies. For "rice" please read "price". Sounds like a potato advert : )
