I think that might be a slightly different situation. A group travelling together in their own secure bubble is very different to single players travelling outside of the UK and back again. But we will see.

But were they all travelling together, given that Trippier and Sancho will at some point have come from their respective European clubs and will have to go back to them? I'm pretty sure that Bats (and for that matter De Bruyne, Aldeweirald, Trossard, Dendonker etc.) will all be exempt.

Last time he came to Palace, he was on the bench in the first game and came on late in the game and scored - against Fulham. Would not surprise me to see a repeat scenario on Saturday.

Fair enough, but as he hasn’t signed the dotted line yet. Isn’t all this talk of him turning out at the weekend a bit premature? At any rate no one can claim Roy , doesn’t play newcomers as a matter of fact.
Playing him would be throwing him in, as there is no way he could be fully prepared. I take the point it could and has happened , and another cameo might happen, but it’s never ideal.

I saw some stat that said Jordan Ayew was number 1 by miles across the league for closing down players or something similar.

Problem was, most of the time we would win the ball back and then have no-one anywhere near the penalty area. Arguably, a Morrison goal-hanging type is more along the lines of what we need. With Zaha, Eze, Ayew, McArthur, Milivojevic (or similar), you'd hope the defensive and creativity work is covered.

He didn’t score in that game. He took the shot that keeper saved and Schlupp scored from the rebound.

Hopefully, it won't be quite as easy to remember every goal we score this season.

Watched the highlights of the Belgium v Iceland game. Batshuayi showed himself to be a proper CF. first goal - keeper spills a shot and Bats is there to roll it into the net.
Second and Bats does a great back-heel flick from a good cross along the ground. He was also there around the six yard box when Mertens and the young kid scored theirs. On this evidence he's a proper goal-poacher; we need to be putting the ball in there for him.

£20m seems a bit high for a reserve striker with one year on his contract especially as he started out at £35m. Looking forward to seeing him back but a bit hard on Ayew.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Depends on how RH decides to set up and what happens re Zaha. If he wants two up front then Ayew could be the other front man with a midfield of Zaha, Eze, and 2 out of Riederwald, MacArthur, Luka and McCarthy. However, I suspect Zaha might feature up front with Batshuayi and Jordan will be on the bench. Of course, if RH reverts to 4-3-3 then Ayew could be one of the front 3.

Nice to have this problem!

I think ayew might be moved to right midfield and replace Townsend....
