I'm doing some work with Liverpool at the moment and they're expecting him to move this week, early next week at the latest.

No idea if it's to us or not but was told we have been working on him for months. Who I'm speaking to have no idea about the details of any transfer in terms of buy backs etc as they would never be involved in that.

They have been analysing some centre backs which will come in as a result of him and one other going out. Likely to be Origi as the other out perm or Minamino on a loan out with a decent loan fee.

My problem with this deal is not Brewster,s ability. But what seems to be the widely reported conditions Liverpool are putting in to it. A buy back. And a sell on. And £20 mill.
Talk about have your cake and eat it.

The problem is Liverpool are in a position to implement those conditions, we, unfortunately are one of many clubs that have to accept them , if we want up and coming prospects. As and when our Academy starts producing this may not be the case. Until then, I fear, we must suck it up

Not too sure about the buy-back but the offer sounds like a really good one, more than I was expecting. Can’t see anyone else going that high.

Has the ingredients of a great deal all round although the buy back can be negotiated up to over £40m

You can't do that. When things go bad it's because the chairman was not up to the job, when things go good it's because he is lucky. No, it's because he has taken this club from the brink of non-existence to an established premier league club which will have (hopefully soon) an improved stadium, top category rated academy and a decent first team squad. All the while, managing to balance the books fairly well.
Also, given the evidence that we are still in the Premier League, we clearly didn't need to replace the departed/injured players at that time. Yes, we needed to eventually replace these players but as we currently stand, we have multiple players for each position in the squad and still have money to spend.

At some point, the negative palace fans will have to admit that he has done a decent job with our club. Like it or not...

I don't think that anyone will dispute the fact that he has done a decent job but your original post said "I think the club has handled our business in the Premier League perfectly" and it was the word "perfectly" that I was disputing and I most certainly dispute your phrase that "given the evidence that we are still in the Premier League, we clearly didn't need to replace the departed/injured players at that time" as many will agree that we scraped through the year that we had no fit strikers more by luck than by judgement

The buy back will have an expiration date, like Nathan Ake's one. We have to hope that at that point, Liverpool have other needs instead of upfront.

A buy back clause is terrible.

In affect, if he becomes a star he's not really our player.

Parish has just put on his Twitter account that he has asked Sky to take down this bulletin as we haven't made a formal or informal bid....

For those who don't understand a buy back clause doesn't mean we have to accept Liverpool bid it essentially means if we were to accept a bid for him from say arsenal in the future Liverpool would have the right to trigger a 37 million bid if they wished then it would be up to the player. Premier league rules forbid purchase and sale of player in the same window so its unlikely they will do this for extra money.
