Journalist Matt Woosnam (usually a reliable source) has stated that the club are willing to listen to offers for Meyer [Link]

Based on what he has done so far he clearly has not justified his high salary (how high is under debate, of course), so the question is really whether he can or will.

Personally, if we're not going to change our system then I would be looking to either sell him to fund a player who does support our system, or we loan him out for a year and see what the situation is then (ie whether Roy's contract is extended).

There's definitely a talented player in there, but he may just not be the right player for a club like us.

He never plays and is coming into the last year of his contract. So whether we're willing to listen to offers or not we won't be getting much for him.

Bit of a 'what if' player for me.

Given that we don’t play him we might as well sell him. I do fear a Sorloth situation though where he goes somewhere else and thrives and we are left looking stupid for selling cheaply.

It would be about right to sell him. He's probably just the sort of player our next manager will want!

The right place for him would be Italy I think. Game is much slower (see how all older Premier players are having a second youth there...) and therefore relies more on technique rather than phisicality.
You can clearly see he hardly copes with phisically stronger players when he plays.

Good player, shame we can't/won't fit him into the system, but then again we often have difficulty including attacking midfielders in our team.

Always get excited when I see him coming on, or starting. Usually end up being quite disappointed. Be great if we could sell and get a few million for him and him off the wages.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

A former Chairman sent me a text about a player we had been linked with stating that he would be a "Square peg in a round hole".We never signed the player.

I feel that this fits the description of Meyer at our club.

There’s definitely a player in there somewhere but it would be in his and our interests for him to move on. Shame really, you can’t help thinking that under a different manager he might have prospered. Who knows?

I might be wrong and this is just my personal opinion, but I think he wouldn't have prospered much more with another manager, because he looks too lightweight to me, gets disposessed too easily, in particular in tackles.
He doesn't have that particular shoot either...
It looks to me like those players that always looks promising but never actually result effective when needed.

Really hoping this isn't another Sorloth situation where in a year's time he's had an incredible season and clubs are fighting over him.

That's exactly what will happen. Given a run of five games, I bet he would show us too. Obviously has skill and technique. Perhaps could bulk up but that's not that hard to do these days. Look at rugby players after a few weeks in the England, Wales or Irish team. They are twice the size in a few months.
