I am still confused by Schlupp after 3 1/2 years at the club.

I remember when we signed him Leicester fans had said they weren't exactly sure what he was. A left back, a left wing back, a winger or a utility man? Or none of the above?

At a best guess I would say he was initially bought in as a left back but is now used higher up the field.

He seems to have good athleticism and us strong and direct. Although I didn't see the game against Oxford last night I seem to recall hearing he was tried as a striker in a front two.

I do think though part of his enigma aura is that it seems to me we play better, are more of an attacking threat when he plays. Is he our missing spark? We scored pitifully few goals last season, a season in which he played his fewest games, coincidence? And in those 11 games he played (not including his sub appearances) he scored 3, really not a bad return in our squad. What are other peoples thoughts on him?

Mr Versatile with a good left foot, hopefully his injuries are just unfortunate.

RH rates him highly but must have the same problem, where is he at his best?

I like him going forward on the left side, old-fashioned left half position.

He does seem to want to get forward quickly which, at least when playing at home, doesn't appeared to be a shared ambition of many others. He does put a bit of life into the side. But, he joins Benteke as another player never to be allowed again anywhere near a spot kick.

When he was a teenager, Nicky Forster signed him for Brentford on loan from Leicester to play as a striker and his goals to games ratio was impressive.

He's a lot better player than I thought he was before joining us and I think under Roy, he's found his best position as the left of the central 3 midfielders.

He's not as tactically adept as the JMac's and Luka but he is quick, mobile, get's forward well and not afraid to shoot.

With the system we play, he'd be in my central 3 as he can do the defensive side, but has the speed an energy to give us more going forward than the others. When we've struggled to score goals, having a CM like him who could get you 5-10 would be a massive help. He's just not been fit enough to show it to date.

I'd like to see what he could do this season if he can stay fully fit.

I'm actually a big fan of schluppy I think he is great. Pace power and direct. He gets stuck in and knows where the back of the net is. I think his best position is on the left of a midfield 3 covering the left side of the pitch defensively and driving up the middle on the attack. He just bulldozers through defenders and whacks the ball as hard as he can and I ain't seen a defender really have an answer for him when he does drive.

I see him as basically the indicator as to how poor we are these days - he’s a bang average footballer, but I’d agree he improves us infinitely when he plays.

I think it says more about the state of the squad than him.

Always prefer him at left back as we seem a lot more solid defensively but also agree that he attacks well. As others said an enigma but he should always be in the side.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

A very versatile, and therefore a very Roy, player. Woeful attempt at a penalty last night though.

I see him best as a forward, it'll be fascinating to see how he's used this season.

Probably my favourite player in our current squad. He just gets on with it no fuss and often comes up with a vital goal or assist so a vital player for us.

When we signed him I asked my Leicester supporting friends about him.

They said he was rapid but thick as s***.
A bit like Forrest Gump. Their words, not mine.

When he's on the left of centre midfield we have 3 players on that side who can run at the defence and overload them. Credit to Roy, that seems like a good idea. If only he came up with a decent alternative whilst Schlupp was injured.

Most of our goals seem to come from the left, especially with PVA or Zaha cutting low passes back across the box from the byline. He probably adds the extra bit of potency our attack needs when Wilf is marked out of the game.

Needs to improve his workrate/become more alert off the ball. He oftern seems to be a couple of seconds behind the play. He seems to be one of those players who fakes defensive runs when tracking back, running a quick couple of yards to make it look like he's trying, then stops.
