Charlton's fan base is now largely in the Medway towns which is why they started laying on coaches from around there. This isn't a mickey take but if they do relocate going there makes more sense and is cheaper than moving to Greenwich.

West Ham fans are mainly based in Essex whilst the big 3 London clubs draw their support from all over the place so could move to any point on the compass.

I think the days of the local fans supporting their nearest club have long gone.

Yes, factually it is accurate. However, the why is important in itself - Why do people consider it a problem to be solved? The sense that there must be some sort of problem as the newcomers don't go to football and it is a legitimate aim that the crowd should reflect the local area the business is sited in. That it is somehow important that the club support reflects the local area and handwringers see it as a problem that the supporter base largely white men.

When Palace has been, more or less, sold out for the last 8 years solving the "problem" effectively means telling some of the existing supporter base to do one or hurry up and retire. Fewer whites please.

If someone was to come on these boards and say there is a problem with the team as it doesn't reflect the fans they would (rightly) be castigated.

But it's effectively the same proposition as saying that the makeup of the fan base is a problem as it is not representative of the streets of SE25.

It's the same thing with the managers debate - we are often told the lack of black managers relative to the number of black players in the game is a problem that needs solving with the Rooney rule, but if someone suggested that the relative under representation of white players was a problem that needed resolving alongside it, there would be uproar.
