His value as an asset on the books will depreciate by a fifth year by year but you still have to find the money to buy him in the first place!!! The selling club might agree to staged payments over the season but they aint gonna wait 5 years for their money.

Darren Ambrose just said on Talksport that he's known Flynn Downs since he was a young lad at Ipswich. He said he is a fantastic player and will be a fantastic buy for us,or something like that.

Domestic Transfers have regulations that dont allow it. or something. So If that's true, 1) looks as though it wouldn't be spread over the length of the contract and 2) could be why there's so many foreigners in our league !!

You are mixing up the payment with the accounting of cost. The transfer fee will spread across the length of the contract. i.e. 10 mill fee on five year contract will be lodged as a 2 mill cost for the next 5 years. However, the full 10 mill needs to be paid to the selling club 12 months after purchase.

Have to say I’d be a little disappointed if we secured Flynn. He looked average last season in the championship, 37 games, 1 goal and 1 assist. I know he’s a defensive mid so these stats don’t tell the full story, however I find his all round play to be average, he also lacks discipline.
