Have to say I’d be a little disappointed if we secured Flynn. He looked average last season in the championship, 37 games, 1 goal and 1 assist. I know he’s a defensive mid so these stats don’t tell the full story, however I find his all round play to be average, he also lacks discipline. I'm been impressed with what I've seen personally. Definitely a good Premiership standard player in my opinion...I rather him better than Will Hughes for example, who himself deserves his place in the squad. I would be very happy if we obtained him. Perhaps a different point of view on Downes - We have/are expected to introduce a lot of players in their late teens/early 20s in the past year who have the potential to go on and play the very highest level of football. Guehi, Mitchell, Doucoure, Eze, Olise, Ebiowei McArthur was an excellent signing - bought him at 26, heartbeat of the team, drove standards and we were never at risk of losing him to a top 4 side. Perhaps this is what we see Downes as - someone who could be an important fixture in the team for a longer period of time than we can expect some of these wonderkids to be. I don't mean that to be a slight on Downes - the likes of Kevin Nolan, Mark Noble, James McArthur play hugely important roles.

Benrahma & Bowen both spring to mind but there may be others.
