Not enamoured by this rumour. Hardly prolific and never lived up to potential. Up front on his own seems far too lightweight. Wing cover? Not good enough. I guess he's really an inside forward but surely the championship or foreign shores for him.

When I see us linked to players like Ibe and Welbeck I despair quite frankly. After seven seasons in the premier league you’d like to think we would be aiming a little higher.

In a way the signing of Welbeck, could be considered a test of our financial position. We need a striker , we have done for sometime now. Looking Not just for real ability, but reliability, that goes without saying. Welbeck has ability , but he has had his best days, and the reliability factor is high risk. All in all short term anyway.

Mind you I can imagine Parish rubbing his hands at the thought of bringing in 2 former England stars in Wilshere and Wellbeck for nothing if we can offload a couple too.
