Obviously not claiming he’s as good as those but the point being he’s obviously not a bad player to have that many games at such a young age, particularly for a fairly strong side like Everton.

He’s already better than Watson and Cleverley. Watson was north of 30 by the time he hit 100 Prem apps and Cleverley 26.

Has trained with the England senior squad, loads of caps and captaincies at youth level, nominated for the Golden Boy award in 2018... far more pedigree than a Watson or Cleverley in my view, and I expect him to have a better career.

Ward-Prowse is probably a fair comparison - I don’t think many would be disappointed if we signed him.

Too many similar players already. What we need is a creative midfielder who can carry the attack and pass forward. Grealish would be ideal, though obviously we have no chance of getting him.
