I think this is probably the best approach. We do not have players suited to possession football, but what we do have is flair players like Zaha, Ayew, Eze and Bats, who are capable of quick interchanges and going at defenders with trickery and pace. Apparently Ferguson is a good passer and is capable of getting forward well, which combined with Andros, Wilf, Ayew, or possibly Benrahama/other could give us a more threatening and balanced attack. If Luka can re-find form he is actually a very capable passer and so is Riedewald and both could be very good at springing counter attacks. Last season Andros was out of form and injured, Wilf was off his game and we had no creativity in midfield. We stayed up through a really strong work ethic and organisation. With Wilf (hopefully) getting back to his best, Eze adding creativity to the midfield and a new option up top in Bats there is plenty of reason to be optimistic. I know a good workman shouldn't blame his tools, but last season many of Roy's tools were broken or blunt. Rosenior on TSN (here in Malta) did just refer to us as the dullest PL team last weekend though, so let's hope we surprise everyone today. Well he clearly didnt watch our last 8 games last season.

Please put this in Gold Talk, I have a sneaky feeling that Roy will stay a little while longer!

Not just because of today but he is the best manager we have had for a long time. Sometimes it's not pretty but he gets the job done. We look like a very hard side to play against and that'll do for me. Nice one Roy, well done.

Dear HOL. I am writing to complain about the current Crystal Palace manager, Mr Roy Hodgson. Before today's game against the mighty Manchester United at The Theatre Of Dreams, aka Old Trafford, I expected Crystal Palace to be well and truly marmalised. This didn't happen, and the man responsible should be given his marching orders immediately. In fact, Roy Hodgson had the nerve to manage a team that convincingly beat the mighty Manchester United. This is something that should not be tolerated! To further compound this outrage, his team had the temerity to score three goals. Something his team couldn't manage in the league at all last season. This is outrageous and unacceptable behaviour from Mr Hodgson. I insist that he be relieved of his duties with immediate effect. Yours sincerely, The OP

Roy has received a lot of stick, not always justified, but he has had to go with what he has been given. The style of play, often not too attractive and with less goals than we would have wanted (not really his fault that Benteke's forgotten how to score !!),does produce results and I am not sure how many other managers 3 years ago could have come in and turned a start of P7 L7 into comfortable survival.

I was one of Hodgson’s sternest critics last season.
