I agree, but the powers that be have deemed this interpretation, so what are we to do! I remember Platini (when he was president of UEFA) was against bringing in too much technology in the game for fear it would lead to these situations. 21 pens given so far this season, I guess the ref's decision is no longer final!

Awful decision but can’t blame the ref or VAR. it’s the rules that we have to complain about, the people making the rules have clearly never played the game, it truly is a disgrace.

We deserved at least a point today, Eze looks class, few stray passes but put that down to his first proper game with his new team mates. Looking forward to the next game. COYP.

Cheesed off and disappointed with that result.

We were the better team and had more possession which is rear

Correct, do not understand how some fans saw that as Everton's game and we totally bossed them second half, we were stopped with fouls five times when running through on them I think Zaha was stopped three times, Var should be looking more at this behaviour because pace means nothing with this cheating and that flipping ref was the same one that booked McArthur at Brighton and gave them a pen when replays showed a wonderful tackle by him and he was booked for it! ..also he doesn't understand advantage because he stopped us four times!!

Roy's subs make the baby Jesus cry

decent performance without really creating much. Keep that pressure on most sides and keep Eze on the pitch and we'll do well. When he and Wilf (and Tyrick) click it's over for this league

Ayew needs to be dropped now

Sickening to loose, but unfortunate?

We has one attempt hitting the goal in 95 mins - one - Kouyates header!!

Good passing, but never dangerous, and when we get a tatget man in, we do not even try to feed him.

Our new central defence is really well, but will we manage more than 30 goals this season. I doubt.

Well considering we’ve scored 5 in 3 games and haven’t played any teams expecting to be involved in the relegation scrap I think we’ve done pretty well compared to last season.

Yes you can blame the ref. He could have decided, rightly, that Ward’s body shape was perfectly natural.

Thoughts.

- First defeat in a long time that I've felt positive rather than thinking we are a boring load of s***e.
- Seems incomprehensible after last season but Ayew has been our worst attacker so far. Not sure he fits this system at all.
.

I’ve never been a fan of Ayew. Yes he did well for us last season but I think we need better. Hopefully we will get another forward in before the end of the transfer window.

I just don’t get how you can give a pen after ‘careful consideration’ of Wardy’s ‘handball’ but not give one for Calvert-Lewin’s, which was far more a pen imho. Sheesh.

McCarthy too many wayward passes today, though i think he looked knackered from the 60th minute.
We did an excellent job breaking up Evertons play and most of that was down to the JM's.

We are playing with 4 players in our defence, that if the entire squad were fully fit, none of those 4 would be playing.

When Eze and wilf finally click instinctively, which they will, and when we have our preferred defense on the pitch, allowing Kouyate back in the middle, then we are going to be in for a thrilling ride me thinks.

Ayew was constantly crowded out today and unusual for him, lost possession alot.
