dunno what happened to Townsend.

Normally he is brilliant, totally rubbish last night.

Benteke needs a transfer to a team in League One if he is to continue playing football.

Eze Peasy at Anfield....

With the current forwards at our disposal and playing 4-4-2, with Zaha as one of the two, the best partner for him is Benteke.
They have played well previously together and Zaha knows how to play off him and read Benteke’s flicks and hold up play.
There is no sign of any partnership between Zaha and either Ayew or Batshuayi.
Zaha made a goal for Ayew v Leeds and Batshuayi made a goal for Zaha v Fulham, but these were very much isolated incidents.
I’m not suggesting Benteke is the long term solution or the player he used to be, but he still seems the most natural partner for Zaha amongst the current options.

Personally, I am not of the opinion that he displays "Brilliance" on a regular occurrence.
He was generally disappointing last season, this season he has been much improved but last night he was absolutely appalling.

Agree. I was flabbergasted when Hinchcliffe? said Andros had played well and shouldn't be substituted. He had an awful 2nd half and got worse the longer the half went on.

Townsend had a solid first half I can not see what other fans are criticising him for, but as the second half wore on the whole team seemed to freeze with horror of not being able to break Burnley down, we had two to three really easy moments to get at Pope and I understand he is brilliant in positioning himself (much much better then Pickford) but poor ball control overhit and underhit passes undermined us and the frustration eventually culminated in Benteke's unfortunate control for what should've been the equalising goal with the last kick of the game.
The problem we have is that our players do not seem to be able to learn from these silly mistakes no matter how much I keep on believing they will, this is purely the reason they do not play for the likes of Chelsea or Liverpool and something we have to just swallow because if they didn't make these very silly mistakes they would be.

Batshuayi and Benteke should not be in our attack full stop, Schlupp and Eze need to play the full 90 centrally behind Ayew who needs to be our one and only forward and mustn't wander around, Zaha, Townsend, Clyne and PVA should all be feeding the ball along the ground to Eze, schluup and Ayew we should not be playing crosses into anyone's box apart from corners when the likes of Dann can cause problems, last night our attacking play appeared more and more like a bowl of spaghetti having fights with Brussel sprouts but we played well enough for a draw so lets hope our plyers for once actually learnt something from it for the next game.

Hodgson is playing 4-4-2 this season and has been doing so since pre-season.
He’s a methodical manager and is unlikely to change the system any time soon so anything else is wishful thinking.

Even if his control was exquisite I doubt if he would have scored!

My opinion, Benteke should have started, We need someone that can hold the ball up, take the pressure off the defence, bring players like Eze and Andros into the game, create space. Ayew just runs down blind alleys, no one rants when he passes the ball out for a throw when it was an 8 yard pass, he did nothing in 75 mins, yet Benteke has max 15 mins and is expected to turn things around. Roy got his tactics wrong, Benteke could help at defending set plays , everyone could see we were struggling. Yes he had a chance at the end, keeper saves it. Others missed easier chances but that’s ok.

I agree. Mee and Tarkowski had a field day with Ayew and Bats. Ayew was especially poor last night and should have been hauled at the 60 minute mark to give Benteke a chance to get involved.

Great move by other PL clubs to express interest and leave us saddled with him.

if that fella scored ten goals per game for the next six months i would still wonder if he is worthy of wearing that hallowed Eagle Shirt.
