I don't think anyone has campaigned for referees to be consistently making the same bad decisions Willo. I am sure if the resources were available we could identify 100 similar instances this season alone where a yellow card was not produced and therefore there is no consistency.

Furthermore, another litmus test for consistency will be if he continues to brandish yellow cards and resultant reds for any player who jumps with a raised arm to win headers.. which I doubt.

His next appointment as a referee is on Boxing Day when he is in the middle for Sheff Utd v Everton.

In the W.Ham game it is apparent that Coote viewed Benteke's arm movements as flailing arms across the face of opposition players and deemed the incidents as worthy of 'Yellows'.

With respect he does not always defend the decisions.

Apropos the Benteke cards, he echoed my comments about consistency shown by David Coote in brandishing cards for two identical incidents.Of course there are those who have taken umbrage at his decisions but he certainly was consistent.

I understand what you are saying. My point is there should be consistency across all referees, not one referee consistently making a poor decision. The argument in favour of consistency really doesn’t pass muster in such circumstances.

EC, dont get me wrong, but like you, i also understand what Willo is on about. Now, you will NEVER get consistency from 2 refs never mind All refs. I keep trying to educate posters, that there is a phrase in Law 12 that states "IF IN THE REFEREES OPINION" thats it.

If 1 ref thinks its a foul/caution, he will give it, on the other hand, another ref might think differently & not give it. This btw, has nothing to do with 'big 6' bias, refs like players, fans, managers etc, are just human. When people can grasp that, convos will be more interesting & not meander round & round in circles like the 'Taking the knee' thread.

When referees have to make a plethora of subjective decisions on incidents that might appear identical but are often nuanced it is understandable that the 'Consistency' debate rages.
Besides, managers don't call for "Consistency" when decisions deemed controversial go in their favour.

You can bet your life that there will be similar challenges this weekend in the Premiership where a yellow card will not be brandished.

Just annoyed that as a result of the two yellows he will miss the Liverpool game. Sure he would have been well up for it !

In other words there IS consistency in that it's not regarded by other refs as worthy of a yellow card. It's David Coote who's out of step with the other refs.

they just come from a different planet...and are allowed to cheat/show bias as much as they like....watch Kane in his next match, does what Benteke did all game NEVER gets even a yellow...oh wait, he plays for a big club/is England captain

I admit I don't witness every "Ref Watch".
He might not have used those precise words but he doesn't always agree with the decisions on the field of play.
