The dug out?

The first 'Dug out' was installed at Aberdeen's ground.
I believe Aberdeen's 'Pittodrie' was the first all-seater stadium in the UK.
Our former player Peter Nicholas once played for Aberdeen.

Cripes! The debate has evolved from "Roy out" to "Dug out" !

Sean Dyche or Eddie Howe would both be better options to so so negative Roy.

Özil could be available in January.
Roy would have a real struggle getting him to track back.
Somehow I think he would be on the bench.
Sokratis may be a better option for Roy.

Haven’t we got about 10 players out of contract at the end of the year?

Maybe the board felt Eze was well worth moving for now before he went elsewhere and they’re gambling on Roy’s attritional game just keeping us safe this year before some transformation next season?

Might be giving too much credit here but would explain transfer window and current status quo

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

You choices are predictably mundane. Do you not think Klopp or Pep would be better options.

Roy in a Daily Mirror story apparently laying blame for our one shot on goal against Brighton,on Wilf.
Totally unacceptable if true and Roy should look at himself and do the decent thing and resign if he fails,as the Manager,to get a decent win against Fulham on Saturday, rather than singling out one player for the overall abject performance.

I’ve got mixed views about Hodgson.
Last season I thought Villa were shocking- very defensive with little in the way of attacking impetus and they were fortunate to stay up.
I thought this was largely attributable to Dean Smith’s tactics and in fact there were strong rumours he was one game away from the sack.
This season they’ve brought in Watkins, Traore, Barkley and an attacking full back in Cash and they look an entirely different proposition. Full of attacking purpose and confidence.
My mixed views re Hodgson is I’m not convinced he would be as bold if he was afforded the similar riches as Villa.
Dean Smith has changed the tactics to suit the new players.
I’m not sure Hodgson would.
Witness his comments about wanting Eze to learn defensive responsibilities from Schlupp and Townsend when he’s a very different player.
Witness his attempts to get Batshuayi to play in a similar way to Ayew which is doomed to failure.
If you play Batshuayi you have to change tactics as his strengths are different to Ayew.
Surely this is obvious.
The best managers look at the available players and devise tactics to suit them.
Hodgson has a system and team shape and will use that even if it entails square pegs in round holes.

I refer back to what I heard a gentleman say the other day.He opined that if Hodgson was in charge of Leeds at the present time they would not be the attacking, on the front foot force they are at present and their tactics would be what we are witnessing at our club at present.

I said it after Roy made these comments on Sunday that falling out with Wilf would probably be more damaging to his position than the turgid performances. I remember when FdB was in charge and Wilf openly mocked him. Days later FdB was gone.

A lot of ex-players speak highly of Roy's man management skills and the team seems to have a togetherness, but if Wilf does not respond in the right way to Roy's criticism then that could be damaging. Roy very rarely singles out players, so it did seem odd and suggests perhaps we are not seeing the full picture. However, whether we and the players like it or not Roy is the boss, so if Wilf doesn't respond well then Roy has to bench him to make it clear he makes the decisions.

From Wilf's perspective he has to accept that unlike last summer this time the club did not reject offers, there were just none forthcoming. In preseason and the first two games he showed he hasn't lost it, so I hope he picks it up again on Saturday and doesn't sulk. I also hope he starts celebrating when scores, as of us have supported him through thick and thin.

To be honest I have no idea as to what was reported.Perhaps the words were taken out of context and mis-interpreted.

If indeed Hodgson did single out Zaha for criticism it might be a ploy to get him to 'up' his game or it might reflect some sort of disagreement behind the scenes.
Perhaps Zaha is just fed up with the brand of football and is desperately disappointed he never moved to another club.
