Are you happy for Hodgson to continue next season and beyond Willlo?
You frequently suggest you are bored to tears watching us under Hodgson and refer to switching off the TV or changing channels when we feature.
Are you content watching your club with a manager that induces that type of reaction?
I know you think we have an ageing squad and lack of investment , but is that enough to give Hodgson a free pass?
Surely he has to accept at least some responsibility for our performances on the field.

Spot on Patrick...except for the word “some”
Roy is the Manager and he is paid to apply his ethos about football onto our football team.
Every team has a bad day at the office but how many days have we had?
He should do the right thing and resign.Go knowing that he has given us some real good years and turned us into a mid table team.
Bring in someone new to take us to the next level.

I fully accept that the football has been somewhat torrid and I suspect most of our supporters are of the same opinion, however there are limitations in the squad in terms of creativity, pace and mobility.

The 'Hodgson way' has ensured survival for 3 seasons and many believe we will still be in the PL next season because of the manager and how he drills and sets up the team.

I think we have been here before.

Without major investment, imho it would be very hard (for anyone) to take us to the next level, whatever that may be.

“The day it becomes impossible for teams like Palace to get results against City, the league might as well just fold up, and we'll do everything on paper”

Roy Hodgson

Might as well do everything on paper. Would be more entertaining.

The next level would be actually managing to finish 10th or above. There are other teams around us attempting to do the same, so we would have to compete, what I mean by that is actually try and win games, rather than defend, defend, defend, hoping multiple 0-0 results will advance the cause. It's a big ask. I wonder if Parish was happy with Hodgson's post match comments?

The question, Willo, was not what 'some' or 'most' supporters think.
It was your personal view.
Are you content watching a team you have long supported playing in a manner that bores you to tears and makes you want to turn off the TV?
A simple enough question.
You seem to be saying he's kept us up and the fact that the style of play makes you stop watching the club you support is immaterial.
If that's your view fair enough, but I want to make sure that this is a reasonable reflection of your view.

I’m sorry but all this crap about our aging squad & no one else will do better than Roy, well how the hell will we know if we don’t try.

Also regardless of age of squad that does not stop you trying to win football matches or trying to create chances & score a goal.

Against Wolves in the cup & City we had no intention of wanting to score let alone win.

It’s embarrassing & there are no excuses for some of the Crap Roy has served up this last year.

Yes our squad is aging but it’s still a very strong squad and capable of so much more than we are seeing.

We need to change the manager for the sake of our club & fans he is sucking the life out of our club.

What young fans are going to want to support palace watching us turn up to constantly play sideways or backwards.

We are going to have no better time to bring in a new man & build than now.

Some excellent and balanced posts on this thread, with valid perspectives about the club's challenges of being a small market team, lack of a pipeline of young players, aging players, a stadium issue and owners with limited pockets.

I feel that the club culture is low risk and appropriately so, in these difficult times. Nevertheless, one has to ask oneself, if Roy & Ray were managing squads like Southhampton, Arsenal, Wolves, Villa, Everton, what would they look like on the field? Probably no different to our team ..... uninspiring, defensively structured, with no midfield guile, unable to hold on to the ball, punting Hail Mary balls up the middle, piss poor at throw ins and hoping the equivalent of Wilf can get a goal or two every now and then. Oh, and if they have a centre forward who might just be one of the best headers in the league, let's have him run around looking for the ball, doing hold up play and ensure that we don't have wing backs that would be firing crosses into the box for him.

We might be constrained by finances, as are the likes of Southampton, but at the end of the day, PL football is supposed to be about entertainment, not just year year on survival to ensure the cash flow to keep our investors fiscally satisfied.

I don't think Roy shouldld be fired right now, but I sure do hope we can transition to a manager next season that can get the best out of the squad, get rid of the under performers, attract and develop new talent, and inspire some modern day thinking and culture in the clubhouse.

Roy is not the only manager in the PL, who has been left behind as the game continues to evolve and the innovative coaches who can adapt lead the way. Unfortunately Roy plays a game that has long since declined into mediocrity. He has met a need, but the future requires someone with better leadership skills and the capacity to take managed risk.

To you it is about entertainment

To me, I am a member of a club, both literally and metaphorically

It’s not just a show, it is our community

Most important is that it survives in a good condition. Then we do stuff. If the football is good then great. If not we sing, celebrate, chat, drink and just ARE Palace.

Of course we would all like to see our team play a more expansive game but we do have limitations in our squad as I have highlighted a few times.

Mr Hodgson is vastly experienced, his teams are built on 'Shape', distances between the lines, organisation and discipline, qualities which have served us well whilst he has been at our club and ensured our PL survival for 3 seasons.

At present, whilst we are a 'Hard watch' we are a world apart from the club that I supported in the lower divisions, in front of sparse crowds in all climes.

Fully agree Mapletree - I think I want to be associated with a club, (as a long time and sometime "suffering" supporter) that demonstrates community engagement, leadership, nurturing relationships sprinkled with some fun and entertainment.

I would rather see us be an exciting top tier Championship club, South London and Proud, than a miserable, struggling PL side, where survival is more important than free flowing entertainment and young players on the pitch developing their skills with pride and prowess.
