Instead of Roy out why not start posting Parrish out.
Do you really think Howe or Dyche or whoever would be doing any better with the players available?
Fulham are a better team than us and so probably are Brighton. I know its dross but he is paid to do a job and like it or not he is doing it. He is being paid to keep us up.
Nothing will change while Parrish (and the yanks) and Freedman are in charge of the club and transfers respectively. They just don't have the money needed to succeed at top half of the PL.
All we can hope is that Sakho Dann Wickham and Benteke are released and some younger players are bought with the wages saved. But I wont hold my breath. Look at Demarai Gray - obvious possible signing and didn't move in.

Not many fans will be happy with the style of football, I agree that it can be poor at times. However, this is our best season ever with regards to points after 26 games. We are no longer flirting with relegation season after season and progressing as a football club.

Anyone who hates this style of football but would be fore Sean Dyche to take over needs their eyes testing because the football is exactly the same.

I feel Roy is a scapegoat for the boards lack of support. If we were finishing 17th every season staying up on the last day, we would be calling for better playing squad. However, because we stay up comfortably, Roy is given 3 championship players (1 is injured and the other couldn’t get in the Stoke team), A rb who has barely played in 2 years and released by Liverpool and a chelsea loanee.

If the board are happy with what’s going on, it will filter down to the manager and players.

We have Zaha. No one in the bottom half has a player near that quality. Our league finish has more to do with him than anything else.

Also I'm quite happy with championship players, young and with potential, looking to step up. Good coaches will make them better, and while they are getting more expensive, I feel they're generally a safer investment than an imported player.

No attacking players have a chance in this team.

Mateta's agent at some point has told him that a mid table premier league team was interested. He must have been so excited at the opportunity. He probably went on YouTube and saw videos of Zaha and was buzzing his tits off, showing his wife, telling his family that all the years of hard work had got him an incredible life experience. "We can all relocate to another country, it'll be fine."

Then the stench-ridden underwhelming reality flops out in front of everyone. That all the flair and goal scoring ability is irrelevant if you can't 'hold the ball up' facing 9 of your team mates in a defensive formation.

I don't really have a problem with any of our players. I'm not sure what they are supposed to be doing to actually get the goal that wins a game, yet I don't blame them for it.

I’m surprised (well, actually not very) that some folks think I was actually being serious. As a club, we’ve comprehensively painted ourselves into a corner by maintaining Premier League status on the cheap with little or no investment in the future. This is now going to come home to roost at the end of the season, what with 11 players with expiring contracts, to say nothing of the management team. Hodgson has absolutely done everything expected of him and deserves huge respect for doing it but when he does eventually go, prepare for the Championship. The job of rebuilding is simply too enormous to be accomplished quickly and certainly not without jeopardising our Premiership status and equally not by someone like Eddie Howe.

The future-planning of the board has been flawed, not least by putting a chancer like Freedman in as DoF. All of you calling for Hodgson to go don’t seem to realise or care that we’re actually buggered when he does. And when it does inevitably go tits-up, I’ll find it very difficult not to wag my finger and say “I told you so”. As so many have said, be careful what you wish for.

This tho, is a genuine concern. Hardly a Roy problem, but yes a big concern.

We have Zaha is a s*** argument. We had Andy Johnson who won the best scorer trophy 2004-05, guess where we ended up, yah Championship.

Wrong - you only have to see how many games are won without him. Wilf may not get the goals AJ did but he's our key attacking player and has been for ages.

Had we not had him we'd be in the Championship now.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Yeah, there is the Zaha-factor, where you need to specifically play against him. Fair enough I was wrong.

And I'll keep bashing.

The sad truth of Premier League is that you need infrastructure. And to get that you need money. And to get that you need to stay in the Premier League. I am 100% certain mr. Parish has several funding plans, where relegation is taken into consideration. And I am sorry to tell you, running a Premier League team is not simple. Hence the status quo where we are just above the relegation battle is actually a solid business plan.

That being said, I understand the need to have our team play entertaining football. All I am saying is that at this point (if you want Palace to seriously challenge euro places) that is not feasible. We cannot buy the team to do that. And staying at steady 12th-14th is fiscally sensible. Even though it means dull Roy-ball.

Coming back with some boardroom meeting jargon about streamlining, effeciency and downsizing blah, blah, blaaaaah......Veeeeery clever!!

But anyway, getting back to the narrative. The team (most of which are Internationals) with an MVP player and one in the making, one of the best keepers in the league, a top ten team on paper may I add, not fighting, playing or wanting to play for the manager(even the managers mindset is draining, how do you think that relays throughout the squad), with so many leaving with no contingency plan in sight (just like all the previous transfer windows & manger searches)

Like I said, nothing remotely interesting!!

I completely blame the board for the state of the squad. The money argument is a crap one - we're in a better financial position spending £15m on a Championship player who ends up being worth £30m than you are signing a player for free on £60k a week who is 35 by the end of their contract.

Watkins, Godfrey, Maddison, Benrahma, Bellingham, Bowen, Eze, Dan James ... it's shrewd. Only Brighton (Webster and Maupay for £40m) have stuffed it up.

What I blame Hodgson for is the belief that the 11 players we started with today are apparently so far below the level of the 11 that 18th place started with that we had to play with that little ambition. With the exception of Zaha, how different really was that from our first choice 11? Tomkins and McArthur probably play, Schlupp might, but these aren't big margins.

I hear the 'highest points record' statement, but that is highest points AT THIS STAGE. Our fixtures have been so kind - we all said at the start of the season we had to be safe by the start of March and we've arguably just about done it.

We've got Tottenham, United, Everton, Chelsea, Leicester and City in our next 8. 40 points for the season looks tough from here. Somehow, after 8 seasons in the PL, the team is in no better shape than any newly promoted side which is the failure of progress that gets everyone frustrated.

Sack the guy then. Some random tween was ignoring the facts and read the mood of the changing room better than anyone in the team. Colour me impressed, of course I will listen to you. Sack the guy!

We have had Zaha. He has been in our team since 2014 and for the first 3 years, we scraped survival. He was also part of the team that had lowest points per game of the 92 teams in the football league in 2016. Under Roy, he is having his best season with regards to goal involvement (goals + assists) of his career.

The biggest point you have made is that we are a mid-table premier league team. Prior Roy, we were relegation fodder. We spend the least year on year and we are a mid table team. Just imagine where we could be if we spent the sums Villa, Wolves and Fulham spend?

I’m all up for championship players if they improve our team. 2 of the 3 we have signed, don’t play.

Also, in 2021 only 6 teams have won more games than us this year. Everyone is saying how Fulham are playing well and Parker has turned it around. We have achieved the same points tally in the last 6 games.

Plus Mateta is long loan with option to buy. Ayew was 2,5m£ (sorry had to include the trade of the century)
