Speculation is rife ..

But the basic fact is:

We are stuck in a rut with Hodgson playing only one (defensive) way using his favourite players (who he once could rely on but now cannot)
and seemingly has no alternative strategy and certainly is very reluctant to blood younger players unless he has to.

That is why so many have contributed to this thread.

Looking at the record of the clubs over the last 15 games, Fulham have only attained 1 more point than us yet Parker is "Flavour of the month" whereas there are "Roy out" threads on HOL and many wanting a change!

I'm not in the Roy Out club but I think this is one of those stats that don't really tell the whole story so you take at it your own peril. We are an established Premiership club so it's dubious to compare us to a recently promoted side. The skill upgrade from the Championship to the Premiership required is huge and even if a team can do it, it takes time to gel. It just took time for Fulham to get the right pieces in place and everyone settled into the newer faster style of play. That's my take on it anyway.

When various posters talk about playing defensively, the facts this season do not bear that out.

For example, the decision was made in the close season to move to 4-4-2 with Wilf playing a front line offensive role. Whilst Wilf has done well in terms of his goals contribution, the defence has let in an awful lot of goals. This is partly due to the big injury problems there have been but also to the midfield 2 getting overrun - partly due to their ability but partly to being outnumbered.
The recent run of games - Brighton, Fulham, Man Utd - essentially saw a change of tactics to 4-5-1 and the results speak for themselves. As soon as the team revert to a more attacking mode, as in the second half against spurs, the results speak for themselves with lots of goals against.

Well pardon me for daring to make a comment on the subject matter of a post by Willo that highlighted the difference in attitude towards Parker and Hodgson when, in fact, their recent records are similar lately. And Roy has not had the luxury of calling on 100 million pounds or more of loanees to bolster his squad.

In any case you yourself are not beyond reproach when it comes to posting on something that had nothing to do with you. You are also on record many times in this whole thread as stating that anyone who is not in the Roy out camp as deluded. If that is not insulting a lot of posters on this board then I don't know what is.

You wheel out the same excuse every time you do this and I will call you out if you make generic comments without backing it up, which you always do.

As for me being on record, do not lie about what I have posted. I have never used the word deluded on this thread (other than referring once to another poster having called Roy out supporters this) and I defy you to find one instance. I do not talk about other fans using such disparaging language. You can apologise whenever you like.

I think it would be foolish to discount a young manager because he oversaw a relegation. It is possible that much will have been learned through the process making him an overall better manager.

Whilst I fully accept the point Willow makes about the comparison between Roy and SP over the last 15 games - I don’t think there is much comparison between style of play and enjoyment (accepting the last two game have seen a slight improvement from us).

It’s been said there are 3 kinds of lies ;
Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics.
Selective use of statistics prove very little e.g the last 15 games.
One could with equal validity refer to one of the worst losing runs in the club’s history presided over by Hodgson at the end of last season while Parker was busy managing Fulham to promotion.
Or for those old enough to remember the long forgotten Owen Coyle who was championed as a successor to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United because he had won a few games.
You choose your statistics to support your viewpoint.

With this in mind there appears to be quite a lot of misrepresentation in this thread.
Some of the Roy supporters claim that those who want him out are seeking Europe and Pep style football.
There is scant evidence of this from these pages.
Some of those who are anti-Roy claim that those who want him retained don’t care at all about the football played as long as we stay up.
This again is probably not representative of many of his fans who see him as a safe pair of hands working with little support from the board.
In other words there’s ‘your truth’ versus ‘my truth.’

From my standpoint I would like a new manager next season, but it does not mean I think Roy’s a bad manager.
I think it’s time for a change.
Things have gone stale and there’s a danger that decay will set in if the club is unwilling to evolve.

But, he happens to be correct. Roy is outperforming both Dyche and Parker, but bizarrely fans want them here, thinking they could do a better job than Roy, all the evidence doesn’t back up the claims.

And don’t forget the mighty Graham Potter and 1 point behind the genius that is Bielsa.

Spot on. Now it’s going to be very interesting to see if Roy sticks with that same 4-4-2 against WBA. I am hoping he sees sense and doesn’t.

I was comparing the performances of the sides over that period, asserting that whilst Fulham have been lauded for their revival, in points terms over a significant number of games they are only 1 pt better than us.

One of course could point to recent wins for Fulham - They beat an Everton team that don't have a good home record, they beat rock-bottom Sheff Utd by a solitary goal and then Liverpool whom we all know have lost 6 successive games at Anfield.

In terms of the respective performances of the teams at the business end of last season, the teams were of course in different divisions, a tad different to the situation this season!
