Speroni, Ward, Mariappa, Dann, Bolasie, Dikgacoi, Puncheon, Jedinak, Delaney, Gabbidon, Moxey, Ledley, Chamakh, Bannan, Jerome.
Players with double digit appearances in 2013 under Tony Pulis, a side that finished a respectable 11th in the PL.

Roy Hodgson hasn't progressed the playing side at all, despite all his "experience" and access to his "best squad".
Perhaps it can be argued that he has held the fort, but what for? Treading water lower table survival tactics for 3 seasons? Where's the ambition from the club?
For additional perspective, I recommend scrolling down and comparing Hodgson's win percentage to that of other managers:

Pardew, Pulis, Allardyce, all ahead of Hodgson on win percentage and Roy’s stats are only heading in one direction. If you worked purely on stats it’s time for him to go.

Totally agree..

Roy is in charge of the best squad we have had since being in the Prem, yet we are still woefully under achieving.

Using a "Royism" I was "apoplectic" at the team selection for the Wolves game - it's the FA Cup, OK give fringe players a run, but where was the opportunity for the u23 players..??

As others have said why drag "first teamers" across the country just to sit on the bench.

Look at the squad for yesterday's games just rotated the senior squad, not even a place for Meyer.

If Roy is not going to give the youngsters a chance in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, that clearly he doesn't see as important/a priority what is the point of the U23 squad..??

Then to produce such and abject and lack lustre performance - no shots on target in the whole game..!!

I accept that we are at the level where being solid is the primary requisite - but there is a massive difference between being defensive first and the current "Royball" we are seeing.

We used to be exciting/dangerous on the break - we ain't even doing that now.

Roy's tactics are stifling the whole squad and we are going backwards.

I have said on numerous occasions that Roy has lost the dressing room and the players are not playing for him - yesterdays performance just emphasises that further - now he can't even motivate/inspire the fringe players into a performance.

Some will point to the Sheffield Utd result - but lets be clear that was a result against a side that are bottom of the table with 2 points after 17 games and couldn't even fill their bench and one of those was a 16 year old.

A resurgent Arsenal and City up next within the space of 4 days - on current form we will get absolutely spanked by both.

Then a series of games up until the end of Feb where we should/need to get some points, if that doesn't happen then we are in serious trouble because our end of season run in is a nightmare..!!

On the positive side I can't see the bottom 3 getting much beyond the 30 point mark - Sheffield Utd probably not even close to that.

But we shouldn't be in that position - with the squad we have we should be pushing towards a top 10 position and enjoying watching them play.

But Roy and his tactics are nullifying the ability and quality of this squad.

I have said before I think Roy has and that is the big thing "has" done a good job for us - but it ain't working now and it's time for a change and that time is now..!!

We played some decent stuff under all three of those 3 and whilst circumstances dictated we had to be defensively solid we did have an attacking game plan (utilising our wide players and pace) and we made better use of set pieces.
It is possible to be defensively solid and more exciting to watch and we do have some very good quality players. I’m not so concerned by the disproportionate concern about the age of our squad as getting rid of Dann, CB, Hennessy, Sakho and replacing them with quality younger additions will bring that right down. In any case Cahill’s contributions show age isn’t everything.

That dross yesterday was So frustrating to watch because it was so fkin aimless, slow and narrow!

Keep Roy at the club in some capacity - but let’s please get a manager in who has a clear identity for playing purposeful attacking no nonsense football and give us something to get behind ffs!

Statistical comparisons with Pulis and Allardyce aren't worth much IMO because they were with us for less than a season and both walked with more than a hint that recruitment or (control of) was the problem.

Pardew's tenure was two years but after a run of brilliant results and some fantastic performances things literally fell off a cliff with him managing 27 points from 37 games over a year.

Performances are a concern, and any manager is only 6-8 games from the sack, but Roy has thus far kept us away from a relegation battle for three and a half years with minimal spend. Neither has he played games via the media. In fact he spoke in the owners favour when Wan Bissaka was sold despite seeing relatively little of the money reinvested.

I would imagine that Parish and the yanks would probably be very happy with the way he's performed protecting their asset without rocking the boat.

Yes I agree that Roy has kept us away from the perennial relegation battle.

But our squad is so now/should be doing so much better than that - can't you see that..??

Roy's tactics are just stifling what is the most talented squad since we have been back in the Prem.

Standing still simply ain't good enough - on that IMO we are going backwards and we shouldn't be not with the resources at Roy's disposal.

It's quite clear we ain't going to progress further under Roy - he's time is done.

Thanks for all you've done Roy but now is the time to move on..!!

No, not really, most of the time I see us come up against teams that have better, faster, improving players and have just spent £80 mil. I thought we were quite literally outrun by Aston Villa's ten men.

I agree there are some good players in our squad but most are on their way down at the same time.

The speed, intensity, physicality and technical skill is at at different level to when we were promoted eight years ago IMO.

This is my own opinion and if I had the money, or was in charge of club, then this is what I would do..

firstly I would be very honest and transparent with the fans.

There is nothing wrong with championship football - the illusion that the premier is the be all and end all is just that, an illusion.

This is how I would view our club and the direction I would take it. The club needs to be a championship club, in terms of wages and financial situations. Paying prem wages is a slippery slope with no real gain, let's be honest. We are the 11th highest in wages and what does it get us?

I would look at this summer as the great reset (topical).

I would get rid of dead wood, I would get rid of high earners, keep one or two as the 'standard/bar'. 30k is the average, 70k is the top in the EFL.

long term, I would invest in youth, scouting networks. We need more Zaha's, AWB's coming through, blood them, sell them on, make a profit. We need to look forward to a cup run - it shouldn't be seen as a distraction. It should be seen as a special privilege.

If we run as a well organized, tight championship club - ignoring the lures of the prem, then if we went down, we would survive no problem in the efl.

Each year the prem throws money at us, it all goes out the window on wages and signings.

What have we actually achieved in the last 8 years? Nothing.

How much money has come in each season?

A championship club comes up - doesn't spend a penny and gets relegated straight away and then receives parachute payments - that club has just been injected with 200 million.

Takes the money back to the champ and improves/rebuilds its infrastructure.

So for us, I would def view us a newly promoted side this summer, I would see every season as a reset. And I would indeed see survival as the target.
But it's how you promote it - each season I would say we go again, with youth, with a profit made with cup runs a priority.

I would rather go down, fighting for it, then falling asleep mid table whilst not making any progress on the clubs infrastructure.

Too busy chasing the money, when in reality I would focus on palace being a community club that everyone enjoys...

I think that is Parish's main goal, but i think he gambled and lost a few times along the way... creating an impossible situation where he has to back track, spend to stay up and has debt.

Again, the prem isn't the be all and end all.

This was once a quality forum....

Agree we were out run by Aston Villa's 10 men - but not because of physicality or lack of talent - but because of poor tactics and that is down to Roy.

And that my friend is the crux of the problem..!!

Statistics are a tool that can be used to analyse performance. If we were to look at the stats strictly as figures on a spreadsheet then Peter Taylor and Trevor Francis have a better win percentage than Roy Hodgson, let alone Dave Bassett, Iain Dowie, Neil Warnock and Dougie Freedman...
When we factor in other data like decade, chairman, funds, league etc then of course it becomes a different matter. However it is Hodgson who said this is his best squad, and with that statement it becomes easy to compare him with Pulis, Pardew, and Allerdyce, and to suggest that he has woefully underperformed with the means at his disposal.

But his finishing position over the last three years indicates that he hasn't under performed despite having spent very little and managed the team much longer.

Even last season we were safe with eight games to go making the post COVID games a bit of a non-event.

Our worst points total since being promoted was in the 2016-17 season when Pardew and Allardyce managed 41 despite spending £85 mil between them on Benteke, Townsend, Tomkins, Van Aanholt, Schlupp, Luka (Sakho Loan). All still here but four years older and on the way down at 30 yrs.

Roy won't be sacked because he will achieve the objective of his employers. The Yanks wouldn't care less if every single one of the remaining 21 games finished 0-0 this season.

George Courtney, the World Cup referee, everyone is looking at him. When will he blow....?
