If Steve Parish and the Yanks were to say if we lose to Wolves Hodgson will be sacked how many posters, if any,
would be wanting us to lose?

My answer would be NO because I never have and never would want us to lose under any circumstances.

I don't want us to lose but it looks pretty much nailed on currently.

In our current fragile state, would not be unduly shocked if we lose our next 3 or 4 games, perhaps even managing to cement our place in the bottom 4 during this period, with Hodgson overseeing our fortunes.
Change must come before it is too late.

There is a great deal of despondency in the air and negativity abounds.Positivity is in very short supply and some supporters whom I have recently been in contact with and who were confident of our survival chances are now seriously considering the possibility of relegation.
There is also the uncertainty apropos the managerial position and the number of players out of contract.

I just don't see what we're supposed to do when our central midfield is a choice between McArthur, Luka and McCarthy, with Reidewald nowhere to be seen. There's just nothing on offer there. Have I missed someone out?
Our Central defenders are all injured or past it. Our attack non-existent except for Wilf.
Woods, Clyne, Reidewald, PVA, Pierrick, Bats or Mateta should start this week. However, we all know they won't. This means the opposition also knows they won't. Hell, even McCarthy won't start.

It's good of you to regale us with stories of what Palace supporters who aren't members of HOL are thinking and I'm sure that we are all pleased that they feel the same as many on this forum

Given the average age of our team Frank would probably become Player Manager!

Roy can't do anything about injuries - accepted - and so Kouyate is having to fill in at CB when he should really be playing in Midfield.
However - Tuesdays team could have started with Clyne and Reidewald - at least we would have been more mobile.
And given West Ham's set up he just never changed a thing - he just let them boss the game whilst he watched quietly from the touchline and left us all at sea.
I have no idea whether Lampard is the answer - I doubt it to be honest - but Roy seems to have reached the end of the line and Eddie Howe is looking for a job.
Relegation form for the last 10 games - 7 points - and it doesn't look or give the feeling that things are going to improve which is really worrying to me.

If Eddie Howe is supposed to be so good, why wasnt he offered the Chelsea job or even in the running? He has been out of a job apart from a bit punditary for 6 months, no great demand for his services.

Riedewald mobile? The chap has a turning circle of Holyhead to Dublin Stena Line. Jimmy Mac at 10 years his senior puts him to shame.

If you look at the recent run of games, I think it would be unfair to sack Hodgson on the back of defeats to in form Citeh and West Ham. However, had those games been swapped around with the Burnley and Newcastle matches, it would be a different story.

Ultimately , the old cliche of it being a results business comes to the fore. At present they are just not good enough. Then you look at the Manager and consider if he is the right person to turn things around.

It would be interesting to know what is going through Steve Parish's mind at the moment.

You're right I think. The next 6 games are critical, all against teams at our level or below us so we should be able to take points from them (I include Wolves too since they can be vulnerable, other teams do them).

Pretty obvious that teams know how to play us and since we never change we are easy pickings to a hungry team trying to avoid relegation.

Chris Wilder not for raising the white flag and will continue to fight for every point after last night's sensational result at Man U.
Our man has lost the plot and has to go.

Watching that Blades game there were runs of play where Sheffield passed the ball around going forward like... a real football team. Something we haven't seen from us in a long time. They may go down but they're still fighting.

Yes he is working with an old squad but that means playing to your strengths. We are getting over-run every week and yet he puts out the same players and same formation and expects things to change.

I might be somewhat 'Off the mark' but I believe that the consensus of 'Roy In' faction is that he is having to work with an old squad, lacking in vigour, pace and energy and that the turgid football is a direct result of this fact.
They also see an experienced manager who despite hardly any outlay in the 'Transfer Window' has kept us in the PL and will do so yet again.

I think most of the squad were very average Prem players at their peak and now most are well past that they're below average.

Never been that bothered about playing entertaining football but what I hate is the opposition looking like they're going to score every time they get near our goal and how draining that is for confidence.

Roy has been dealt a rough hand IMO but I also believe that the run we're having combined with performances like Villa and West Ham means that Parish will have to put the brakes on and make a change if there isn't marked improvement in the next couple of games.

The dilemma then is whether you get in an experienced organiser on an expensive short term deal until the end of the season, or take a chance on a slightly longer term appointment who may not know how to handle an ageing group who are in the last year of their contracts and a possible relegation struggle. I suppose Eddie Howe be an option but he looked hopeless at the end of last season and made a lot of poor signings.

Planning for next season gets a lot harder if you're embroiled in a relegation battle IMO.
